Noor, Glad surgery is done and wishes for a speedy recovery!! Xoxo

I'm finally scheduled for port removal surgery today at 5:30. (Under general anesthesia due to the clot issue, with a vascular surgeon as well. Phew.) I am ready for my own bed again! Probably will be on Coumadin for a while though to get rid of the rest of the clot. More good news.... Finished Rads on Tuesday. Didn't quite plan to depart my last session via wheelchair, but I'll take it anyway!!!

Hang in there ladies, we are all Warriors!!

Lara, great picture! And very happy chemo is over now. Hoping you se will also disappear soon.

Tortilass, good they finally can remove your port and hope you will also recover well from it. I'am glad they removed mine, cause I always felt it. But glad I had it anyway, because I never could have had chemo through my veins. Even for the anesthesia I didn't get it by IV, but with a mask. The nurse tried to put the IV in my arm, no good, hurt a lot and now I have a big bruise. Tried my hand, but no success either, so got the mask.

Noor, looks like you and I have the same veins...Yuck!! they tried to do chemo in my vein, but could only get one between my knuckles and the Taxotere blew it within 10 minutes. I was so happy to have my port, but like you, felt it all along and it developed a fibrin sheath, didnt work for draws... blah blah blah. Now it created a blood clot. Charming. I'm thankfull it worked for the infusions but sheesh!

A little introduction to my IV buddy, "Torty". I'm a scuba diver and sea turtle lover... (Torty is short for tortuga, Spanish for tortoise). His shell is perfect to keep the IV from crimping. :)

    Noor and Torti,

Hope you both are doing well and on the mend. So nice to have a 5 day hospital rest Noor.

    Sweet hope,

You are so right. The first time I did this 25 yrs ago, they kept me in for a week and removed the drains before I left so I went home without any "reminders" to dwell on. This last time I went home the next day, but surprisingly felt better one day post surgery this time , then I did one day PS last time. No one was more surprised than me

    Lara--Congrats on completing Chemo!!!

Noor and Torty--I wish you a speedy recovery!!

I, however, am not doing so great. My chemo this week is being delayed due to intolerable side effects, most of which are not the taxol, but more likely the steroids. Apparently, I am very sensitive to them and have been having major stomach issues, muscle weakness, super highs and intense lows. At one point today, the oncologist was considering stopping chemo altogether, but in the end she decided to give me a week off to recover before restarting for my last 3 treatments. Because of my age, she wants me to finish all 12 infusions of taxol. So I get a week off, then back at it with almost no steroids (she is nervous if she stops them completely the taxol side effects will be too much and could cause permanent neuropathy) and a slightly lesser dose. I have an appointment next week to see where we are, and how I am doing. They are also going to do an abdominal ultrasound to make sure my stomach and other organs are ok, and an x-ray as I may have a slightly cracked rib I never noticed.

An emotional day for me, to say the least. I won't finish chemo now until July 17th and of course, rads and my surgery will now be delayed too.

The one silver lining is that because I am not getting an infusion tomorrow, it is guaranteed I will be strong enough to perform a cha cha/rumba/hustle mix Saturday night. When I post the video I will make sure I post a link here :)

Jenn, you can be very proud of your performance! Keep on dancing and chemo will be over for you to very soon!

This is a picture of me and my daughter at the hospital, yesterday. Since she will go to university next schoolyear and will be working all summer far from home as of tomorrow, this was a special moment for me.

Thank you all for the pic comments! My daughter is amazing and I did have her young; I was like 6...LOL Just kidding; however we are very close. And I have to agree with your Sweethope; Ben is a hunk and a GOOD man. It's been hard on him too and he has stuck by me and loved me through it!

Lorie, thank you, we get allot of the you look like sisters and "twinkies"...Lol

Noor, I love the pic of you and your daughter, she's beautiful!

Jenn, Kudos to you on the dance! You did Awesome!! I would have tripped over my own feet and fell on my butt!! And I am so out of shape right now and weak.....Good for you!! I loved it!! Thanks for sharing!!

I have a question; living in Texas I have been wanting to go hang out at the pool and lay in the sun a little and just do what you do during the summer in Texas. What are the rules after Taxol and before radiation and time in the sun? I have like a 50 or 80 SPF sunscreen I can keep on. But I would love to just spend an hour or so around 5 pm hanging out by the pool.

Any suggestions or flat out No No's?

Love to you all and big ((((((HUGS))))))

    Lara
