Lymphovascular invasion and no chemo
I've finished all my treatment but I continue to worry about my path report stating lymphovascular invasion. Breast surgeon just glossed over it when reading it to me and hasn't been brought up since. Onco doc said no chemo because of low oco score of 12. Anyone else have lymphovascular invasion and no chemo? I'm concerned cancer cells got into bloodstream but just hadn't made it to nodes. My sentinel node was clear. I don't go see onco doc again until August but plan to ask him about it.

hi Becky - I have no advice but will bump this thread. I went over every detail of my dx daily in my head for a couple years - then one day I was able to let it go. I took me that long to really accept it. Hormonal therapy is very powerful and designed to be a systemic treatment just in case. Take care!

Becky - My oncotype score was an 18 or 19 (forget without looking back). I had lymphovascular invasion and had no chemo. I switched to a new MO a while back, and this one said she would have recommended the same as the first. I, too, worried about this for a long time. I am finally now in a place where I can say I made all the right decisions for the information I had at the time. Feels good to not second guess myself and my treatment.

Becky: Have you thought about getting a second opinion from another medical oncologist? You could see if your insurance covers one. That may help you achieve the relative peace of mind that BayouBabe has found.
I did not have lymphovascular invasion. I did not get a second opinion about treatment(I think I was just relieved to hear I could avoid further treatment), but two years out, I still worry (about the Isolated tumor cells in one node and small invasive things they found).

hi Becky - I had lymphovascular invasion and I did have chemo. The chemo was because of the 1 positive node I had though. My lymphovascular invasion was never mentioned either until I brought it up.

hi Becky. First, congratulations on completing your active treatment. Based on my research lympho vascular invasion is NOT an independent risk factor for a poorer prognosis with breast cancer, as it is with some other cancers. I hope you can achieve comfort with your treatment decision.

Hi Becky, I too had extensive lymphovascular invasion, I call it LVI as stated on my surgical and biopsy pathology report, and none of my doctors mentioned it either, I had to ask about it, and it seemed like it wasn't a big deal to them, but it scared the crap out of me. I had a micromet in 1 node, that didn't make me feel better. My Onco score was a 12 also, and I did not do chemo. We unfortunately have a lot in common. I even thought about doing chemo no matter what the Onco score was, but my doc said no chemo. I did 30 radiation treatments, and started tamoxifen before radiation started. I really try to not worry, that's hard at times. Stay strong Becky! your not alone in this fight.
