Fibroadenoma with new and concerning symptoms
Hey all! I'm 20, born female but identify as transgender.
About a year ago now my partner and I found a 2cm oval shaped lump, at about 11 o clock on my right breast. I got it checked out by ultrasound and by that my doctors and I were pretty sure it was a benign fibroadenoma.
It kinda seemed to shrink from about the start of this year, and I couldn't find it at all for a few months while doing self exams.
For the past few months I've been experiencing an overly itchy armpit on my right side? Not painful but itchy, and I've been wracking my brains trying to work out why.
This morning I woke up to a lump, like on the surface, just under my right nipple, on my aerola, almost like a pimple. I squeezed it and it was slightly pussy. I'm thinking it's a pimple in a weird spot, but I did a self exam to make sure - and I can feel a lump where my fibroadenoma was. Different shape, still kind of moveable, and slightly smaller/harder to find.
Money's a problem for me, and I'm not gonna be able to get in to see a doctor for up to a few weeks because I'm waiting for my disability allowance (for mental illness) to be authorized.
I know the chances of a fibroadenoma developing into something cancerous are pretty low, I guess I'm mostly concerned that it could have been misdiagnosed in the first place, since we skipped the biopsy to avoid too much trauma. (I am unbelievably bad at needles. Last time I was in hospital they wanted to put a cannula in my neck and they had to put me to sleep to get it in.)
I have family history of breast cancer, and with the whole transgender thing I'm pretty keen to just get a double mastectomy and be done with it, yknow? And given I'm still recovering from a pretty nearly lethal suicide attempt just a few weeks ago, I'm struggling to really care that it could be developing into something serious.
I'm thinking my plan from here is to see if the possibly-pimple goes away, keep checking the maybe-not-fibroadenoma for changes, and hopefully see my doctor asap. But I'm more freaked out at the possibility of a biopsy than anything else!

Hello thisisabadtown,
Sorry you had to be here but we we're really glad you found this community. The ladies and men here will understand your fears and be able to offer their support and advice.
It's understandable that you would be worried about the possibility of having to go through a biopsy, although members have expressed that having a biopsy doesn't usually cause pain.
You might find the link below helpful to read: It explains the different types of biopsies and what to expect.
Eight out of 10 lumps that women may feel in their breasts are benign (not cancerous) but in any event, if you feel a lump and you're worried about it, don't hesitate in seeing your doctor about it asap. By getting a doctor to check the lump you'll ease your fears. And if it's something serious, you can start getting treatment right away.
We hope it does turn out to be benign,
Keep us updated!
Warm wishes, from the Moderators.

Have you had it checked since the original imaging? I have been instructed to return to check my fibroadenomas in 6 months. If you need a biopsy it is not too bad. Sore after more than during. I hope all turns out well. I am sorry to hear about the suicide attempt. I hope you are seeking medical counseling for that. You are so young and it is terrible that you were in such a place. I know that the world can be a hurtful place, but no one should ever have to feel alone or that they need a way out. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

I would start with another ultrasound to see what is going on. Pimples can be from a myriad of things and could very well be unrelated. I don't see any reason to freak and have to go today, but you could find out if there is a local place to get free testing so that you don't have to wait too long.
Biopsies really aren't that bad. At least they weren't for me. I don't have an issue with needles but it seemed like I barely felt them. Not like an IV or something. So don't let your fear stop you from getting proper care.
I am sorry that things have been so rough that you attempted suicide. Life is worth living even if sometimes it's hard to hold on through the darkness. Trust that there is a light at the other side. There are some wonderful things in this world you just have to look for them and remember to focus on those. Ignoring your health now only to discover those wonders when it's too late to do anything about an illness would seriously suck. Not to mention how hard that path of illness can be. So don't ignore your heath. I hope that you find a way to be happier.
