Biopsy Path Report vs Surgical Path Report

Hi,

I was wondering how different your surgical path report was from your biopsy path report?  Was it different enough to change your treatment plan?

    Well, it wasn't that different. Initially I was told tubular features but that disappeared from the surgical report. They werent expecting the positive node. I will say that my 2nd opinion pathology said the tumors were grade 2 vs grade 1

    Eta: the results of the path report changed the anticipated tx plan in that they didn't get clean margins so I got radiation. The oncotype plus positive node added chemo. But to be fair, they said all along tx plan would depend on surgical pathology.

    Mine were the same. Did not change TX plan - neoadjuvant A/C, UMX, adjuvant Taxol, rads, Femara. Remember that surgery is not always first for all.

    There were no significant differences in tumor characteristics in my case, however surgery path report discovered cancer in lymph nodes amongst other things that biopsy could never capture. That changed my tx plan. I was not planning on chemo or even rads prior to surgery.

    When I got my surgical path report, it downgraded the cancer I had. I don't remember how, but my surgeon said it was not as serious as he had thought, and I probably would have been fine with a lumpectomy. By then it was too late- the girls were gone! Still had BMX, Chemo, and probably Rads, though!
