Hello all,

I was told yesterday that my DCIS is low grade crib form but oddly it's also ER and PR negative. It showed up in a mass of other benign stuff so sort of incidental finding. My question is how bad is an ER/PR negative status? Also after MRI all looked good except for an abnormal lymph node. I did have a biopsy last week which left me with a nasty big bruise so I'm hoping the 1.3 CM lymph node is reactive just from that, however there is one side of it that has a 3.5 to 4 MM thicker cortex wall. We biopsied it so now waiting again.... I'm hoping that thickening in one spot can still be normal and that it's not "too" thick?

    Hi Jules,

We're sorry to hear of your diagnosis! For information on ER/PR status and what it means, you may want to check out the main Breastcancer.org site's section on Hormone Receptor Status.

Also, the DCIS section may bring some insight!

    We hope this helps!

My understanding of ER PR negative DCIS Stage 0 is that our cancer is not hormone fed and there is not a medication for us to take. I was offered a clinical trial if I would of opted for radiation. I would of been given a placebo or herceptin. The more I learn and read, hercpetin is given to people with HER2 positive, so this makes me wonder what my HER2 status would of been. Most people are not tested for HER2 with DCIS Stage 0.
