Waiting for ultrasound results- is this normal?

Hi everyone. :)

I had an ultrasound today on both of my breasts after I found a lump in my left breast. I've also had dry skin/scaling on my left nipple, which has cleared up but still worries me. My doctor has reassured me that the lump is unlikely to be anything suspicious, but I am more worried about the lump in conjunction with the nipple changes (which she also isn't too concerned about).

Anyway, is it normal for the ultrasound technician to have taken a lot of images of both breasts and both underarms? He seemed to take pictures of the entire breast in a circular motion. He also asked if I'd been sick recently about halfway through the exam, which I haven't, and if I'd had the lump for more than 2 weeks (which again, I haven't and only found 5 days ago). I feel as though he looked too concerned, going over my breasts several times etc, but I may just be projecting.

I'm 19 and this was my first examination. None of my friends have had experience with this so I'm not sure what to expect or what could be considered abnormal, as I have no one to talk to. I've tried googling but nothing has really cleared anything up. Am I overthinking this? I can't see my doctor until Wednesday morning and despite being calm over the weekend after my doctor's physical exam, now after the ultrasound I feel incredibly anxious that something is wrong.

Sorry to ramble.

It's possible he was having a hard time finding it--they don't all show up on all kinds of imaging. Your doctor may have ordered imaging for both vreasts and armpits.

For now, don't Google. It will only scare you with the worst-case scenarios.

I'm also waiting for results of sterostatic biopsy. Just had mine done three days ago.

Thank you very much for your kind words and advice! I have stopped looking things up and I'm instead trying to keep my mind off it until Wednesday; it's all a little surreal at the moment and hard to focus on anything.

I truly hope all goes well for you, Lila.

    Hey guys,

I have just returned home from my doctor and thought I would update you all: I only have an inflamed intramammary lymph node, which my doctor believes is as a result of the dermatitis on my nipple. She's certain it's nothing to worry over, unless it enlarges or other lumps appear. She did want to have both breasts and underarms checked, which is why the ultrasound technician did everything, just to check for other solid or cystic masses (which in retrospect I'm glad she did, as it has eased my anxiety).

Thank you again for providing this forum to rant and read up on-- I felt a less alone, and for that I am grateful. I wish you all the best. :)

I'm positive. I'm going for an MRI next Monday. Doc is fearing it has spread. ......but hey.....he can be wrong . I'm praying he's wrong.
