    Chevy, within about 15 minutes. I talked to San Marino--referred to director voice mail--no response. I called Westmister PD ---three forwards with info at the three given. I have the case # and the detective. Called Channel 7 back and gave it to the contact. What pisses me off is the PD said not every shooting is reportable to the press. The reporter accepted his initial contact with the PD as being factual---"No report" when I had details. I abhor that most of the news is negative. But the issues here are 1. the public right to know 2. the public right to know what measures are taken in a communal living area to protect residents. This wasn't done.

    BTW------------the fall....going to be months till things aren't hurting

    Five years since diagnosis this past June 10. But I think the 5 year cancer anniversary I'll celebrate will be August 13, that will be 5 years since double mastectomy. It's weird to use the word ' celebrate' .....
    Hope everyone is doing well...sorry to hear about that fall Sas. We don't heal up quickly anymore ;)
    Got up to 100 degrees in Temecula this week. Long hot drought summer here in Southern California. Did some gardening this week. Planted tomatoes. So hopefully in about 3 months I'll be enjoying 3 different fresh varieties of tomatoes.
    Visited a breast cancer support center today. Amazing place. They have workshops and groups for survivors as well as Yoga, Reiki, haircuts, wig fitting and groups for kids of family members with breast cancer. Oh and also a reference library with books and videos. All free in support of those affected by BC. I'm gong to donate my camisole that held the drains after mastectomy and the tight colorful wrap I had around me after surgery.

    Sas--Sorry to hear about the fall. I have an ankle that's not right either. I think my dog set me up a few years ago...I went to let him in around 1:30 one night and he wasn't there...so I called his name and heard him crying on the other side of the neighbor's fence. He had broken a couple of wooden slats and gone through the fence from a planter area on top of a retaining wall. After I got him back into my yard and blocked off the hole, I jumped down off of the 18" retaining wall....into a hole he must have dug before he broke out, spraining both ankles. I swear I could see the little bastard smiling as I crawled on my hands and knees back into the house! And ever since, my left ankle just rolls with the slightest misstep! Very frustrating.

    I am sorry about the fall! Whenever I have done that "catching myself" makes everything hurt - you just have to ride it out. ugh... I can't tell you how many times I have tripped over my dogs and fallen! Pretty funny story about your GS getting through the fence Marlana. Years ago when I was working an icky 5pm to 1am shift to cover breaks and dinner... ugh.. I would get home fried. I would sleep, get the kids off, try to go back to sleep (joke). Our lovely "know it all neighbors"... master gardeners, on the house tour... pedigree boxers... on and on, opinions on everything - decided to payme a visit! Anyway our little Flower (westie/corgi mix) used to like to dig under the fence and go visiting - especially this nice male cocker spaniel...haha. I would look for Flower at his house first.. Anyway I didn't know Flower was "walk-about" and was asleep. Well here comes my neighbor holding "Flower" and she brought 3 other neighbors to show her disgust at my doggy neglect... I opened the door in my nightgown... she started in... bla blah. horrified that at such a late morning hour I was not even dressed! I was like "I am sorry to inconvenience you but dogs will dig. Thankyou for your kindness in returning Flower. I have been up all night... and I work tonight." I took Flower. She really wanted to ream me out since she had an audience... I shut the door. I have lost track how many dogs I have caught, leashed and returned.. especially on July 4th!

    I just have to relay this story. We found a tutor for our DD great college kid. She ended up not being able to do the whole time we wanted, just a week, since she has Master course work to complete. I like this young woman very much as does my DD, she's just a fabulous role model. Anyway we were talking and she tells me that her Mom had BC- late stage and is 10 yrs out. There were 3 kids in the family (same as ours) and she was 12 when her Mom was diagnosed - my middle DD was 11. Her little sister was a year younger then my DD3 who was just 6 when I had my surgery! Luckily her Mom's cancer has not spread and she remains on meds. What a small world! BC is so friggin common it's everywhere, why isn't there a cure? How can you just talk to a young woman and hear the same story played out in her life as in mine and my kids? It blew me away. Thanks for listening.

    Roses--I have looked the same when answering the front door. Fortunately, two of my neighbors also work in law enforcement so they're not shocked by my jammies at 2 in the afternoon. And it was my neighbor's fault that the fence broke--they put a sprinkler right up against the wood causing it to rot after only a few years.

    Small world definitely on the breast cancer--I'm finding more and more women but the stats don't lie with 1 out of every 8 of us.

    Jazzy--too funny on the meme. Reminds me of the movie "Idiocracy" where all the smart people stop breeding and the dumb people over breed for centuries while all the scientists are dedicated to prolonging erections and preventing hair loss so that the world is populated by stupid people.

Your dog was smiling at you? Man, that must have been painful! Sass fell 2 inches and it is laying her up for a MONTH!

    Rosie, what a small world! Maybe it will all work out anyway, with your Daughter, and a tutor? Sometimes things happen for a reason....

    Speaking of Sass... OMD, you called the police on the police? Theresa is going to get kicked out of that place! And it is soooo hard to find living quarters when you are 91!!!! We better leave the tracking to the authorities, which they don't care in the LEAST! They are sending someone to the home to talk to the old folks, because Lord knows the rumors are rampant. I just know that someone higher-up, is commisserating with some un-known folks, and keeping this whole thing hush-hush. Probably because it would give a bad name to this place, and you wouldn't want your loved-one residing in some gun-totin' wild-west hootin' and hollerin' honky-tonkin' cabaret of an Assisted Living place.....

    Those people need their REST! Damnit! Not people running up and down the halls with a 6-shooter, and hell-bent on changing the menu and the meal-times! So it will be on the back-page, if ANY ..... ever.

    Spookie- I am sorry you are having a crappy start to today. I hope you can feel better soon. Sounds like you have some nice company coming?

    Sassy- I am sorry you had a fall. I hope you are feeling better soon.

    Pawprint- congrats on the 5 year milestone. Do you think as much about reoccurrence with being past that or more in the back of your mind now? I wondered how I would might feel when I get there. Half way there now.

    Haven't been around in a while...lurking and posting here and there, but laying mostly low. I just wanted to drop in and say hello and thank you! Yesterday was my one year "anniversary" of my last chemo (TAC) and this thread and many of ya'll here saved my ass. I was a mess a lot of the time and would post about it, or come and read, cry, laugh...vent...you name it! Thanks for being here and for the newbies this place is golden!

    Wet floor, uneven ground, and compromised legs/ankles don't mix well. So sorry Ms Sass for the many falls you have had. Hoping for no internal damage.

    Spookie and all, that fall won't happen again. I'll make rules AND follow them. It work for the dog falls and lawn falls. I've thought for years about getting a brace for the right ankle. But have delayed b/c I figured I'd just find a new way of falling. Falls are bad, but what is it doing to my poor brain. Face is no longer as numb. Headache mostly gone. Neck very stiff. The rest of the booboos will be healed shortly. Worst is right ankle. The troublemaker finally met it's match. Irony I was on my way out to the pool for exercise. Swam on Monday. What a delight The water was a perfect warm. Soothing versus chilling. Came in house temp was 78. Chilled like crazy. I can see house temp will have to stay 80-81. Unexpected savings.

    Marley, ohhhh I can relate. Dog holes are why a rule from early in the year was made. No walking in the lawn.  Loved how you handled that neighbor. I had a Brittany that did " walkabouts" frequently. It was so funny when I caught him. Chain link fence. I came home early and he was in the new pup was out. Not suspicious, the pup was small enough to wiggle under the fence. But came home early the next day and Max was gone, pup sitting by the fence terrified.  I'm searching up and down the street. I saw the mail lady. Asked if she saw Max. She looked at her watch and said no it was too early. Odd, but went on searching. Found him with some little girls a few streets away. Asked if he ever came over there before. They said about everyday. ??? Went back and asked the mail lady. She said he was usually out later in the day. What we deduced was he would jump the fence and make rounds when we were at work and then go home before we got home. This explained to DH why people he didn't know would yell hello to Max when he would jog around the high school track. One lady said she loved the dog , but had a concern about him jumping her fence. He'd eat her dog's food then jump back out. Her concern though was the fence. 8 feet high. She said he'd hit about half way up then climb the rest. So much for a fenced yard. After he was caught we had to watch him all the time. He saunter up to the fence and over he go right in front of us.

    The pain pills are working nicely. I have a new respect for tramadol/ultram. Except sleeping isn't good.

    Tang good to see you. Glad you came on your Anniversary. YAY hootie HOo. You had a bad go of it and now your're in good shape. Except for the MIL. I got caught up on lurking on the Stupid Comments thread. Yowser, they're some pretty stupid comments. 

    Jazzy, glad you are here for R&R. You've had your share of negative stupid comments. The thread is insightful, but tough to read so many comments on people being so dumb and in many cases mean.

    Chevy, really the secret is I was trying your stillettoe's that you sent. The red ones. I was swinging around with all the Boas's that you sent. With the "5'o'lock Somewhere" hat on.

    Rosie, wonder and wonderful that you met that young woman. I hope she's able to stay somehow in you and DD's life. Great the way you handle that snotty lady. I think you said "Walkabout". Look at post to marley re: Max. He was great. I always said I should do a children's book on Max stories.

    Where is our 2TA, Enerva, Blondie, Patty Frenchfrye, Smarrty are you still Playing with the babies? HI1 settled yet? Is the shigles gone?

    Susan caught up? Your DH finally got me straight on the insurance. Fiasco. Perhaps calling Medicare would still help. If the insurance company has a medicare wing, they might do something. Worth a phone call. Thought. You are required to take DH's insurance? Most/many places went to a rule that each had to take there own if available. OR is that the pa that DH straightened me iut about. Medicare is different?

    Did I say the pills are working great? Just a chatty cathy here.

    I got on my soapbox yesterday. I've had an observation on weight for quite sometime. Put it together as a hypothesis. It was on someone elses thread, but I said my piece over a couple of posts. Please, please read I really do believe it's an avenue of study that should be researched. Perhaps I can find someone to do a study. Not the gal that did the study referenced on that page. The more I read her work, The more I think she had a bias about weight.  If you noticed a sudden unexplained weight gain within 18 months to 2 years or LESS before BC . I would really like to see you post your experience

    Dropped off the Stupid Comments thread. Too much anger there, but understand it too.

    I joined it for awhile to share with folks "it is not your job to listen to other people's opinions, judgments, or other crap and/or to make them feel okay about what is happening to you." You need to park people who do that (short or long term). It is the only way to get through treatment. You need every once of you energy to get through what you must do!

    You guys know how to be serious around what we need to, but are funny too!

    Going to be hot here. How are the TX folks doing with Mr. Bill (oh no, Mr. Bill.....)

    I was confused about hurricane Bill. They were talking and Something was said about have to pay Bill. Pay Bill what?  Whose getting charged for what?   Pills were messing with Bill. Funny.

    Jazzy, too bad about stupids, you did give nice supporting comments. But I get that it can being a downer. Here's it's like the real world and cancer is an afterthought. lLike  "Oh yeah, I had a scan type thing and it was good" AND we move on to quilting or jazz, or Childrens and pets funnies. Cottages and cabins. Gardens and gardening.Then onto serious stuff like crocs and their fair haired Walmart designers that show the crack of their asses. Hope they down't use the crack of their asses.to form the string for the flip flops. We do important stuff.

    Pills make me pretty loose. Sleepy no sleep.

    Ha, I love Walmart stories and pictures. I rarely go to the ones here, but when I do, it is always interesting! I am often the best dressed person there! LOL!

    Most of the women on Stupid Comments are newly diagnosed and starting treatment. And that time is so hard as you are just so terrified, confused about all you have to do, taking info in at warp speed, being dragged through all kinds of tests, scans, etc. It is awful to have to deal with other people's reactions.

    I told very few people, just a trusted few I needs support with. It would have been far worse if I had told more people. I learned long ago with other difficult situations, we always think (and hope) people will show care and support, but not everyone does. I have heard a lot of stupid comments through my life around family losses, job/career changes, elder care, as well as my own stuff. There is no shortage of people who say whatever is in there head in the worst of times. I was not surprised by the stupid comments I heard when I got bc. I was surprised by a few people who always showed up for me that ran away and stayed away until I was "done with everything". As though we are ever done with anything, right? Most of them are now long gone. And I am okay with that too.

    I come back to what I know is true. Those who have been touched by whatever you are going through are your greatest supporters. The ones who won't run in fear. People who have had cancer or whom have supported others going through treatment were the ones there for me. There is less fear and lack of understanding around the whole thing. You don't have to explain everything to them, they already know the process and a lot about surgery, rads, chemo and all the rest.

    I continue to be grateful for those who get it and can show up. They are the gems in our lives!

    I am planning to do something with my friend who finished chemo in May (she is still coming back from her fatigue and not ready yet.....) I did take her shopping a few weeks back and we had a good visit and did have a bite to eat after. She says she is not ready to celebrate quite yet. She is coming along though.

    BTW, don't think I told you about the two Jazz posters I have >They come from the Detoirt Museum of ART. My dad had an alcoholic customer that would sell works of art that were cast off after show. He sell them for a price of a drink. This fella ran the shows somhow and was reposible for the art work displayed.

    First it is in monocratic browns and creams  It measures about24 inches by 18 inches.

    The words are "JAZZ THE TRADITION LIVES". The Font is Bauhaus.

    The second poster has Satchmo with his coronet, I think. I have it packed away. The wording say " MONTREAX DETOIT JAZZ FESTIVAL" and the dates. It was the first, this one was not copied. They're many more from which copies were made. They missed this one in catlogueing.. It's a one of a kind. Royal Blue background with an orange symbol. Has a liitle sun damage. Son doesn't understand it's value. Size, 4 feet x 30 inches. Good size.

    If you google the images it will show them in sequence  Low and behold I found it. Years ago wen I was trying to find it's hx, I was told they didn't have it

The result was record-breaking attendance and revitalization of the festival.
                           
                          The Detroit Jazz Festival is now managed and produced by the Detroit International Jazz Festival Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 2006.     I just came back from taking Flower for a walk. Someone decided to torch our welcome flag with big sunflowers. It melted and dropped burned flag on the rhodies on the front of our house. The flag pole of course was right next to the house and our daughters window. It could have set the house on fire. Why would anyone do this? We have lived here 15 years and with the exception of the highschool kids throwing bottles and trash in the yard never any issue.

    Burning folks decorative house flags is so lame. I am taking this down to the police.
