Calcification leads to a biopsy MRI and surgeon consult

I had a mammogram a week ago because of breast pain, slight itching, and a little knot. They did a mammo and US. radiologist didn't like what he saw. Said I had a lot of calcification and since I had a clear mammo a year ago and because of my age-34. And the amount he wanted to do a biopsy. He said I shouldn't worry most likely fine. Well today I go on for a needle r US guided biopsy and the radiologist r had a very different take. She said she really dis not like what she saw. A lot of info but I think calcifications area was - -7cm 3 knots less than 1cm. She said great news nothing is in my lymph nodes she seems so confident it is cancer cancer she scheduled a MRI Friday and surgery consult Monday is that normal to move so quickly or could it be be an aggressive form of cancer she saw

    Tanja98--I am very sorry you are going through this.  However, I am happy you have doctors who are fast in getting to the bottom of what is wrong.  Nothing in lymph nodes is a great sign.  No matter what the outcome, and no matter how frightening it is, it is good that they are working quickly.

    We want to welcome you to our community here at BCO. We're sorry for the worry that brings you here, but we're very glad you've joined us, and hope you find the support you need!

    We know it's scary, but it's good that your doctors are moving quickly to get to the bottom of what's going on. Did the doctor mention when you should expect the results from your biopsy? Often times, because of the size or location or general characteristics of the area of concern, a doctor will order further testing because one test just wasn't conclusive enough. Until your pathology report from the biopsy comes back, there's no way to be certain.

    Please keep us posted on when your pathology report comes back, and how your other appointments go, we'll be thinking of you!

    Hi,

    Some types of BC do call for a rapid response. And in any case, getting a concerned response is far better than the let's wait and see horror. Depending on your pathology report, you might want to see a medical oncologist before seeing a surgeon -- some types of BC require treatment before surgery.

    the biopsy came back Wednesday. It is DCIS but the doctor disagrees with the pathology report. She says what she saw on US and or mammogram was different. Whatever that means. I assume more invasive? I had MRI today. I could have called to today for ki67 number and progesterone or estrogen fed info I guess. I know a little about what these should be but didnt want to worry with it. Dr will tell me Monday at10. How does your period effect readings starting peri today US biopsy was tues
