Thank you Coyote! I'm researching that today. If I had a choice I would change insurance providers but I'm trapped at the moment. In my area,
-
mqt64. Let us know how your appointment goes today. Hope the infection and goo are gone
-
WondrWoman, thanks for asking. The goo is pretty much gone and now I'm popping out pieces of the necrotic tissue when I irrigate which is a good thing. I have a new tunnel as a result! I do need surgery which will be either this Wednesday or next depending on his schedule in the OR. Basically what he is going to do is open it up and clean out the infection and as much of the necrotic tissue as he can. If he can close it he will, if not, he'll pack it and let it heal from the inside out and close it later. It's a decision that will be made in the OR at the time and luckily I trust him to make it. I'm hoping it will be this week. Meanwhile I have1 more hyperbaric treatment tomorrow and those are done but I'll have to keep irrigating until surgery. They'll call me tomorrow to let me know.Don't you love it! Oh, and I had an allergic reaction to something and my boob got red and itchy. It isn't the antibiotics because it's just on the boob. Perhaps it is the silver in the packing or we've reactivated something from the methylene blue. Changed the kind of packing today so we will see. Seems a little less itchy tonight.
Quiggy, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Hugs.
Hope everyone else is doing well. Coyote, any kidney news?
My nephew is doing well after his stem cell transplant. Just waiting for those new white blood cells to start growing. Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts.
-
surgery tomorrow... Worked today but made 1/2 dozen trips to the restroom to cry. Stressed more then I've been over the last 8 mths.
I'm tired of being in pain, tired of dealing with cancer shit!!!!
Hopefully this surgery will bring me peace. I need normal or something like it. 😪
-
Hugs mqt64.
-
Quiggy, send you well wishes and prayers for a successful surgery tomorrow. Hope it resolves the infection.
Hugs,
Cherice
-
Thanks Cherice.
-
Yes quiggy, asking God to give you a successful surgery today and complete healing of your infection. Love, Jean
-
Thanks Jean
-
Holding you up in prayer right now. Dear God, I come to you in the name of my Lord Jesus and ask that you guide the hands of the surgeon and all medical staff with clarity and precision. Let this surgery have a perfect result and please give quiggy a quick and comfortable recovery. Love, Jean
-
Quiggy Been thinking of you all day. Glad this step has arrived. Hope it does not take too long to get biopsy results.
Mqt64 Glad your nephew came through so well and hope the best for him and certainly for you.
-
I hope all went well today Quiggy. My thoughts are with you. -
Well, another week of hyperbaric now, and then surgery next week. That's if the redness is gone from whatever I'm reacting to. It is less itchy but still pretty red. Wasn't there a song back when that said "On and on and on and on?" Intellectually I understand it and don't disagree, but emotionally not so much.
Thinking of you Quiggy!
-
Quiggy, thinking of you! I am also with Kaiser and agree with Coyote to use the patient advocate.
-
mqt64. Sorry about the wait. You must be pretty disappointed. One more hurdle. It constantly seems like the kid who tries swimming to the parent and the parent keeps backing up so the kid never gets there.
-
My anxiety levels are unbelievably high waiting to hear about how things are for you, Quiggy and Mqt64. I've been checking the site several times every day. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. -
Quiggy and Mqt64, thinking of each of you. You both are in my prayers.
-
Hi everyone! Sorry for not checking in sooner. Surgery was Tuesday afternoon and today is the first day I've felt up to it.
Presurgery was hard. I felt so depressed and apprehensive. They tried 5 times to do my IV before they got it. My arm is a mess! Then while they were doing the final safety check, computers went down. I was in preop for 2 1/2 hours and had a strong urge to bolt! Seriously considered it!
Finally got to surgery and it went ok, lump is out! Pathology will be ready next week so I'm in the sadly familiar waiting stage. Surgeon would not give me much info., said we'd talk when we meet next week.
Pretty sore and tired but I feel improvement in the pain. Boob is pretty swollen but stitches seem to be holding so far.
Coyote, I followed up on the advocate and talked to one on Monday. She "promised" to look into things and get back to me today. I'm trying to stay positive about it.
I should have the results on Tuesday.
-
I too have been holding my breath waiting for an update. So so so glad surgery is done and you have relief from pain, Quiggy. Now the waiting game....
Coyote, mqt64 had her surgery delayed until next week.
-
Breathiing in - breathing out. Take it really easy Quiggy and be kind to yourself. Sending hugs and prayers.WndrWoman - Thanks for the update about mqt64 - I missed that and thought it was yesterday.
Sending hugs and prayers to you too, mqt.
-
Take it easy Quiggy! So glad you connected with the patient advocate. I am with Kaiser had have used it a few times. Still sending prayers and hugs for a smooth recovery and good news next week.
Thanks for the update on mqt64. I also missed that update.
-
Glad to have an update on quiggy and met also. I had been checking also. Prayersfrom here for you both.
-
BIG thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you all.
Please keep the positive thoughts going for the path report next week!!
-
Qu8ggy, I'm so glad there is finally some good news. A long, difficult journey for sure. Prayers cintinuing for you and met. . Love, Jean
-
quiggy, glad to hear some good news from you. I have been praying for you.
-
Quiggy, so happy for you that that part is open and glad your pain is less. Now hoping next week's news is good. Rest and take care of yourself and allow others to take care of you too.
I see the PS on Monday. I broke out in a hive rash down both axilla and down both arms along with increased redness of my boob. It's really itchy so I think it is an allergic reaction to the antibiotics I'm taking. Friday the doc who was checking ears looked at it and said he thought it was worsening cellulitis, put me on another antibiotic and said to keep taking the first one but couldn't explain the rash on the other arm. I didn't restart the first one because I really think I am allergic to it. I did start the other one.The rash is getting better on my arms with the Benadryl, the boob is still red but slightly less so. If he postpones the surgery again I'm going to ask for a referral elsewhere. Just so tired of it all.
On a more positive note, I went to our local Relay for Life last night and it was amazing. The survivors ' lap was inspirational and just about brought me to tears. It was a strange but welcome comradarie. The sight when they lit all the luminaries was beautiful. My daughter had actually made one for me. My dh and I made ones for his sister and my nephew, Danny. He still needs prayers and good thoughts as he started running high fevers and is pretty sick.
Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. I still need them too.
-
mqt64 Tough time for your family. Thinking of you and will wait for an update tomorrow.
Off to the gym. I'm trying to be good about exercising and eating better. Need to lose lots of weight. I have signed up for Live Strong starting in September and now in weight loss program at breast health center. Have lost 50 pounds slowly in the last couple of years. Now trying to do what I can to avoid a recurrence and avoid any surgery has motivated me. None of this is easy though.
-
mqt64 ~ The last year has been a really tough road for you and your family. I have great admiration for your strength but so wish that it had not been the way it has. It sounds as if there are some improvements going on. I hope no sensitivity arises from the new antibiotics. There are so many thoughts about all of this that flash through my head and heart, but putting them into words is sometimes impossible. Know that you are in the prayers and thoughts of so many of us.
-
Thanks Coyote. The rash is fading and the itching gone in my arms. The boob is still red but not angry looking. Kind of like after rads.. Tomorrow I see my PS.
Wondrwoman, you are an inspiration! I need to lose about 40lbs. Sad to say, I am a stress eater. But I have done it before with Weightwatchers so I know I can do it again.
Quiggy, hopefully you are feeling better every day!
-
WndrWoman, I am going to LiveStrong now at my local Y and I love it! I just got back from spin cycle and rode 14.0 miles on the recumbent spin cycle. I have knee issues so this works well for me. I am getting in shape, but losing weight, sadly not so much! Not sure why I can't drop pounds, but I have a appointment to see my PCP in a few weeks. I am exercising like crazy, and step counting, eating great, and still the fat stays. Just getting frustrated. Since I am tall, everyone tries to discourage me from losing pounds, but I gained 25 pounds during treatment and my clothes won't fit. I hope you enjoy LiveStrong, it is really a great program! Cheryl
