Calling all who've experienced both round and shaped implants!

I had TE exchanged for high profile rounds (270cc) in April. Immediately, I was quite shocked not having bargained for my final result (baseballs stuck in my chest!). I am 5'4" and 105 lbs, so very thin and wanted to remain near to my previous size A cup. High profile was selected to fit the narrowness of my chest wall which worked well but the round outline of the implants is very noticeable all the way around and what I now know is called "upper-pole fullness" isn't really something I feel comfortable with either (not looking so natural on me). Over time, I have begun to feel a bit more comfortable with my appearance (I think they've relaxed a little too) and have learned how to work around what I don't like so much. I feel like I look fine in clothes but finding swimwear is still quite a challenge. And naked, I still just feel very strange but that may be just the way it goes.

I am scheduled to have an exchange for shaped implants in August, which my surgeon thinks will give me the result I was expecting. I worry, though, given that I don't look terrible as is, that perhaps I should leave well-enough alone. I wish I could be more certain that shaped implants won't end up being something I dislike more than what I have now. So I'd love to hear from anyone who has experienced both and can offer something to aid in my decision to make the swap or not. If I do, this it has to be the end of it, no matter what the result. I want to be done!

    I got the shaped, love em.  370cc Sientra, moderate profile.  I'm 5'6 123lbs, 19inch ribcage.  it gives gentle upper pole fullness.  My PS tried the high profile 370's but said the upper was just too much. He said it puffed out the pit area too much.  Glad he went with the mods.  The feeling is very soft and nice.  OOPS just re-read your post.  I didn't have rounds before.

    Not sure many have had both so thanks for your reply anyway. Just hearing that you "love 'em" is helpful. So it is possible to be very happy with your implants. Seriously, I'm often just not sure if I'm expecting too much. I would LOVE to love 'em instead of just dealing with them. Leaning toward keeping the surgery date but my feelings do change by the minute.

    I only have experience with the shaped implants and love them.  I feel lean and trim and love that they look natural.  Good luck with your decisions.

    I have had the high profile 260 cc and had the same experience as you, a baseball stuck to my chest feeling also. Went to a moderate profile, PS choice, and I am not happy with the lack of projection of the nipple. I also do not need nor want the upper pole fullness and wonder about moving towards a shaped implant. Wonder about the pocket size and the implant not sitting correctly, has this been a problem for others?

    My TEs were for regular silicone implants because I didn't know to tell my PS that I wanted the shaped implants so the correct TEs could have been ordered before I was being marked up on the table.  She consulted with her colleagues and made sure the pockets were tight so the implant could not move.  My exchange was last September and I couldn't be happier.  Also, mine was the first time she placed shaped implants.  She is very talented and I am convinced that the results depend on the skill of each PS.

    My PS told me that shaped implants now come in so many shapes, sizes, heights, widths, etc. that finding one that works is not a problem. He is ordering several to get the best fit and look. He had to do pocket repair work before placing the rounds (my previous PS had placed TE that were way too large for me) so his only concern was that the internal stitching held well, which it has. He still plans to add some bio-mesh as an extra precaution to enforce the stitching, and he always uses drains when placing shaped implants (grrr! but I will listen to him). Still planning to go through with the surgery on Aug. 13th and meet for the final pre-surgery consult in July. Hearing from others who love their shaped implants and from my fellow baseball hater has helped a lot!

    Hi am doing research about implants. Plan to have an exchange in September. Have TE that is too wide for my chest, not hugely so, just a bit.. I am wondering which size and amount of projection will look best. I am a 36 C cup and am thinking that a shaped implant will give me the best, most natural looking match to my real right. The TE looks funny, kind of like a man boob, too wide, without a proper inframammary fold. Worry that my PS will be able to fix the inframammary fold to match my other side and give me a good shot at symmetry. Am planning a vertical lift of my right breast for better symmetry with a different PS. Wish my PS was comfortable with doing a vertical breast lift, but he is not, so he will do the implant exchange as he put in the TE. It means an additional surgery with a different to get the right breast lifted this fall as I need to get it done before January 2016 in order to save big bucks on insurance.

    Well, looks like these baseballs are mine to love. Cancer's back. I have so many more important things to worry about now but I won't lie...I still hate these rounds! Oh, well! Sorry I can't let you know how the shaped implants turned out.
