Areola Tats post recon looking for tattoo artist in KC area
Hi! Hoping there are some Kansas City folks out there who have had experience with local tattoo artists. I am considering doing the areola tattoos and would love some input on who to go to in this area. Also, in general, for those who have had the tattoos, how do you feel about the outcome? Satisfied? Do it again? Not? Feedback is appreciated!

Love mine. I flew to Baltimore to see Vinnie. It was $600 then, totally worth it.

I had a micropigmentation specialist (tattoo artist) who worked in my PS office do my areola tattoos last Summer. She did a wonderful job! I love them. There seems to be number of very good artists out there who are just not well known. Hopefully, someone will provide a name in your area. -
GeorgieGirlKC - I, just like farmerlucy, flew to Finksburg, Maryland, to see Vinnie Myers. (I figured if I'm going to do it, why not do it right?) I was kind of used to the 'Barbie boobs' and was pretty sure that nipple reconstruction wasn't something I wanted - and once I researched it, I went for the 3D tattoos. (I never had a tattoo before!) What a HUGE difference they make! I'm so glad I did it...they're amazing! The cost is $800.00 for two, and this was money I consider very well spent... Good luck to you!
(There's a thread about Vinnie here: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/44/topic/...)

He doesn't have pictures on his website...need a password to see pictures...I don't
really like that when people do that....with that said I have seen 2 pictures of his work.
Definitely worth looking into... If you want to travel www.pinkinkproject.com lists artists....

I live outside of KC metro and I was referred to an article in the KC star about a month ago. There are two places, Waldo's dark side tattoo on Wornall and Exile tattoo on W 39th. The first one's owner's wife is going through tx now. You can search the Star and it will come up. Good luck.

Thank you all for your responses! I finally found a gentleman here in KC who does them and has an excellent reputation and was able to see his work on one of his clients. ! I am scheduled for next week!
Blessings

Brad Franzen is his name and he does contract work through Monarch Plastic Surgery in KC area.
-
Georgiegirl, that is coincindental. My plastic surgeon is part of that group and when I went in for my pre-op, the nurse mentioned the guy that does it. Please keep me posted on how it goes, because I am looking into after it is all said and done. Good luck.

Hi tazbear89 thanks for the post. I saw Dr. Leahy is who I saw. Once for a consult while trying to figure out what type of reconstruction to have and then once post reconstruction (I had the DIEP Flap in San Antonio) to get the thumbs up for the tattoo. I will keep you posted! If you are local here in KC there are a group of gals at Gilda's club that meet the 2nd and the 4th Tues of the month at 6pm I think it is called the breast cancer networking group. You are welcome to join us. Best of luck to you as you take your next steps.
I will be at the meeting tomorrow night!

Just wanted to post an update. I ended up getting my tattoos through Monarch with Brad Franzen. I went 3 times to get the finishing touches and I am very pleased. I would highly recommend this gentleman!
-
Thank you very much for the update. I'm waiting patiently to start the 2nd phase of reconstruction now that I'm done with active treatment and your opinion helps so much. Thank you and take care.
-
You too Tazbear and best wishes on your phase 2. Where are you having you second surgery? Same surgeon? Will be thinking of you!
-
Since I ended active treatment in Feb, I have to wait 6 months before they will touch me. I will have Dr. Nouhan continue the processs. I will see her in June just to touch base and then start in earnest in August.

There is a doctor out of Northwestern in Chicago that does 3D tattoos. Not sure what he charges. I have not gone for my consultation yet. I'm having my implants done in July 6th! My PS highly recommends him. Might be worth the car ride? He does have pics on his web sight. Northwesternplastics.com
Good luck!
