My PS said I can wear no bra or a bra with no underwire. I don't like the feeling of no bra. My skin was very sensitive the first 4 weeks. It's starting to ease up now. Today I picked up a great bra at Kohls on clearance for $12.00. Warners Side Effects. It's a little padded and in my shirt tonight I had a nice high looking round breast shape and the material between breasts is laying across the gap basically creating a straighter projection. My TEs are pretty far apart so this is a nice camouflage. I got a 38c but tomorrow I'm going to another kohls to find a 38d as I have 4 more fills to go. For $12 it doesn't hurt.

SuzyQ42 -- I totally understand how you feel about all the crazy stuff done to our bodies. I never had any surgeries before this--never had stitches, never even had ears pierced, no tattoos, etc. All natural equipment-- no scars, no cuts, no incisions! Now I've got a port in me, like a kind little mechanical implant (feel like a science fiction cyborg!). Have had a LX and SNB... Tattoos for Radiation...
I'm glad to have the choice to do the LX, though. I feel like I have most of myself, with only a couple of little incisions. Chemo has messed up my GI tract and my nails might still fall off and my hair is gone... but hopefully that will fix itself in time. And I'm hoping rads won't be terrible.
I hope you can find a solution that will be best for you! Don't ever feel bad about wanting what you want and not being happy with your options! You are so totally allowed to feel that way and it is all valid!
BTW-- If you can afford it, you might want to see if you can get a non-KP second opinion. I did that with my MO and he gladly changed my treatment to go along with the letter the 2nd Op wrote... Sometimes KP puts a little pressure on their people to follow their own standard of treatment UNLESS the docs can have in hand something that recommends something different (with the letter, I suddenly could get tons more tests, like a bi-lateral Breast MRI! and Bone and Brain scans and a PET--all of which KP wouldn't do without the letter. Nor would they give me Perjeta with TCH until I had the letter). Of course, if your 2nd Op person also says that what you want won't work, then that won't help you... But I'm just saying! (I ended up leaving KP for a PPO during the January Open Enrollment, and I'm much happier, even though the KP folk were all nice and competent... I definitely have a lot more options with my PPO.)

my ps said soft stretchy bras. I found a great selection at Walmart and some with front closures and some I could shimmy up over my butt. Made getting dressed easier as I couldn't lift my arms. I've had my exchange and sleep in my walmart front closure. So comfy. Some of them have removable pads so u can add or subtract as you start out or have fills done. I didn't want to spend much as the size was constantly changing. And I just bought a Warner's No SideEffects and love it!

Hi everyone. Just came home from my 3rd fill so 650cc now with a few fills to go. I am happy with the progress so far. This TE journey does get better with fills so just hang in there. Here's a pic which does not even do justice but I wanted to share.
-
You look great Audrey! -
looking good Audrey
-
audrey - wow, I can't believe you're already 650cc's. Fabulous.
-
wow audrey those are spectacular
-
Thank you all.
Daylilly, I just seriously laughed out loud. One of my favorite scenes on Seinfeld "yes they're real and they're spectacular". Never ever did I think I would fall into the spectacular category, real or fake. Thank you!!!!!!
-
mjh1, I was filled 400 at surgery, first fill 100, 2nd 50, 3rd 100.
-
wow Audrey - you look awesome - thanks for sharing!
Went for my 1st post-op today with PS - drains stay in another week 😒 need tips to get drain cc's down ??? Right now averaging 50-60 per day almost 2 weeks post surgery
Will start fills maybe next week or week after - surgery fill was 200 cc's
I go to Breast Surgeon appt this Friday! I called yesterday to see if they would tell me results on nodes over the phone - nurse said Dr will review all with me on Friday - UGH - the anxiety is a killer!!!
Anyone out there get Allergy Shots and if so were you still able to get them in the arm that had nodes removed???
-
Audrey
Mdoc524 - it is better to leave the drains as long as needed, dont rush to have them out, mine was 3 weeks and longer would have been better, i filled with fluid [tech term a seroma] and im lucky i didnt need it asperated as that could have introduced an infection. so i wore my compression garment longer too. it is nice to get it out, but not worth a seroma. i hope your surgeon appointment goes well!
9 weeks since surgery - im stilllllll stretching. walking lots , ridem mower so i mow and stretch. feeling ready to look at some foobs or a squisher for the good one, and i found some posts on here for ideas on swimsuit stuffers.
hugs to all !
-
Audrey, that's great to hear that you are not having a hard time with the fill process. You look great and it won't be that much longer to get where you want to be.
mdoc524, best wishes for clear nodes on Friday. If you are using your arms a lot? Just wondering if that could be a factor contributing to your drain output.
DayLily, is physio an option for you? Is it just tightness, or is your range of motion limited? Have your talked to your BS? While daily stretching of your whole body is great for flexibility, I don't think you should have so much difficulty at 9 wks. I think that you should have your full ROM back at this stage.

My exchange surgery is set for August 19. Yay. This is one surgery that I will be standing at the door with my bag on my arm waiting for Rob. LOL. The other surgeries I've left my house with my head down dreading arriving at the hospital. Funny how things change.
-
Audrey my phase 2 for my flap is scheduled for Aug 19 also! And I am on Long Island too. Which hospital will you be at? If you don't mind my asking.
-
lovevt, I'll be at NSLIJGlen Cove Hospital. All of my surgeries have been there and I have nothing but good things to say. For my BMX I stayed for two nights. I had a private room, huge, with a sleeper sofa, flat screen tv. My PS is chief of PS at St. Francis Hospital but I can't go there due to my insurance. My BS has OR time at Glen Cove and for my BMX my PS agreed to the hospital. He used to have OR time there but gave it up years ago . He told me he was very happy with it.
-
hi downdog - my PS asked me samething and most if my day is spent on recliner watching TV & playing on iPad - I am not doing any housework stuff at all other than maybe to get a drink or shack etc... I shower every other day & try to keep arm movement slow and minimal.. PS did not see any issue - I can live with them longer! I have started milking the tubes like every hour - was not doing that as often - today same 60 cc's! So we will see - thank

audrey
Oh I am going to be at NSLIJ Manhasset outpatient. I just thought it would have been nice to meet someone on this forum...in person. We would have both had a friend... I had my BMX at St Francis and was very happy there, but your experience sounds great at Glen Cove that's great to hear. Well we can be chat buddies on this board after our second surgeries...even though they are different we are all in this together.
-
I thought I would be at Manhasset too. Glen Cove is so far away but a smaller hospital and you park and walk right in the door. Who is your BS and PS. My BS is Dr Pezzello and PS is Dr. Feinberg.
-
lovevt and audrey - what a small world. I had all my surgeries done at LIJ. The women's pavillion has added on a new floor. You felt like you were at the Trump Tower. The first time I have actually seen a hospital room that has a safe deposit box in the room. I would highly recommend it. I'm going to be an August surgery sister too. I'm having my revision August 31. Luck to us all!!
-
mjh1, Glen Cove redid one of their floors for surgery patients. It was beautiful. I had a huge privste room with floor to ceiling glass walls to the hallway with a curtain for privacy when wanted. The nurses would pull the curtain closed at night. Because the room was so big I didn't hear all the beeping and chatter usually heard at night and I actually slept. Full wood built in wall unit with flat screen tv. Just gorgeous. Like a movie. And I swear I never waited more than 30 seconds for a response if I pushed the call button. I was so dependent I couldn't get out of the bed without help. If I needed to go to the bathroom within seconds 2 or 3 nurses were helping me up. I just can't say enough about it.
-
audrey - sounds fabulous. Would say I'll have to check it out but I hope after this revision in never see another OR or hospital room for a long time!!!! I'm having this revisoin done at NYU, so I'll let you know how the hospital and staff there rates compared to NS-LIJ.

Hi all, I'm on my 11th day out from surgery and I feel like my pain level isn't great. I'm taking ibuprofen during the day and that's barely keeping the pain at a decent level, still taking narcotics at night. Is that normal? I typically have a really high pain tolerance so I'm getting frustrated.
I got my pathology report yesterday, looks like I had "isolated tumor cells" in one node, so officially all nodes were negative. My oncologist said he was upset they even put ITCs on the report as they're "meaningless". He also said there was no point in doing an oncotype on my right tumor because the left tumor was bigger, but the right tumor was multi-focal (4) so I'm not sure what to think of that. The report also stated I had "extensive" LCIS in my right breast. Not sure what "extensive" is supposed to mean. I'm glad I have a second opinion appointment next week, but overall it looks like things are good and I won't need chemo.
-
Hi SummerAngel...I had my BMX three days before you and I am still taking the narcotics...I'm trying to taper off but sometimes the pain is just enough to be distracting when I'm trying to work. Not taking any at night as I haven't had problems sleeping for a few days.
Congrats on your path report! --Lorie
-
mijh, I too was in the Tower at LIJ and thought it was so nice.
SummerAngel, I took pain meds for at least two weeks. I tapered off them by taking Aleve PMs at night, and taking a pain med when the discomfort started getting to me, usually late afternoon.
-
hi downdog - thank you .. i do have my full range of motion, the tightness is through my armpit area, it is improving, but i am going with your advice, i will ask for a PT next time i see the MO.
-
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one still experiencing pain after 2 weeks! I weaned myself off of narcotics and living on occasional ibuprofen and tylenol. The pain is bearable (more "discomfort" than "pain") but I can still feel it and it's frustrating. It's a constant reminder of the fact that now I have implants. I'm sure one day I will get so used to my new breasts that I will be able to forget that they're not natural. When that day comes, I will write on this board, "Today, I took a shower, went to work, exercised, played with my kids, made love to my husband... and as I'm falling asleep, I realized I didn't think about my breasts all day! My breasts just moved with me all day long, just as naturally as my old breasts used to." Will that day ever come?

Audrey
My BS is Dr Derisi and PS is Dr Korn. Is Dr Pezzello in same office as Derisi? I think so. I actually was scheduled at Sloan but went for a second opinion to Dr Derisi and he thought Dr Korn might have a different option than what I was doing at Sloan. I am happy with the outcome all around. Being at St Francis instead of in the city was so much better for my husband. And I am very happy with the results of the surgery as well.
-
mjh and flounder it is good to hear about all these local hospitals. sorry we all had to go through this but I am glad you had a good experience at LIJ.
-
lovevt, yes, Dr. Pezzello works with Dr. Derisi. I was referred to their office, was told both of them are excellent, and Dr. Pezzello had the first opening when I called to get an apt re lumpectomies. This was before my cancer DX. My core needle biopsies came back benign but radiologist strongly disagreed. Thank God she was on her game. My PS works withDr. Korn.
