Second Opinion

Today ten weeks post ADH dx I finally got a second opinion on follow up and genetics. I went to see researcher and

MO I had seen twenty years ago for BRCA 1 testing of me and my family. I saw an MD Geneticist today too. All reassured me that genetic etiology is for me a non issue. They are highly confident that my breast ADH and maybe eventual cancer is not due to genetics . My BRCA 1 testing 20 years ago, first in US ,was high confidence negative. Other genes in this context are much less determinate or significant..

Also contrary to first opinion

MO who does not know me, this doctor said no preventative drugs. I am so sick already and she gets this. Risks in my case she feels outweigh the benefits. This is a preeminent breast Cancer researcher at Dana Farber here in Boston , so I'm sticking with her. I have to trust someone . If and when I do get cancer , she will follow which was also reassuring

Today was an extremely emotional day for me bringing up all that me and my family have gone through with Breast and Ovarian Cancer. Took me hours to stop crying.

Don't know if this helps, my wife has a stage 3B/3-4 nodes, she's getting carbo/gemzar chemo to shrink, she had her original cancer in the other breast 8 yrs ago, this new one is not a recurrance or mets, she is seeing Dr. Wilde/Scripps La Jolla. She went to genetic team member yesterday, and it seems the research would not help her now, but her imput (she agreed, if insurance covers it) helps future patients. I don't think it matter to her chemo>surgery.rads now, age 65.

My wife had bc 8 yrs ago, this is a new cancer, her Mom had bc, I think heredity plays a bigger part than enviromvental, hope this help you to no worry these things happen beyond out control.
