I've just finished my ac chemo and have had 2 periods while on chemo. I'm due to get it anyday now but I'm thinking it's not going to come
-
Did our thread just get spammed with fish oil hate? How do we make that stop?
Thanks for the kind words about my wig, you guys are the best! My real hair was straight, long, and auburn...
Karen30 and gkodad..hope your GI issues are better! Those can be so disheartening and debilitating. Big hugs!
Ksusan, I have the same weird patch missing from my left eyebrow, finally had to break down and start penciling...
Well..so far so good with the tree man...aside from minor fatigue and aches and a slightly burned mouth, feeling pretty good! Well, bald, tired, sallow, and boobless, but pretty good lol. We shall see how this progresses. MO said that taxol should be out of my system in 48 hrs, so by my calculation that's 1400 today....
-
Littleblue, I just "reported" that post (well, both of them) as spam. Glad Taxol is treating you well. When I saw the picture, I thought you were posting a picture of you before chemo! It looks really cute!
Addie, I have the "yuk" mouth too. I can't taste anything. Not sure if it's thrush...likely is, but I am going to down a bunch of yogurt...that's for sure!
-
I just got an e-mail; if someone else reports the spam, it will be removed. I think it needs to be reported more than once.
-
Copy! And reported.
-
Nice wig! Sassy!
I am grateful that I have a cool, safe house to curl up in on my post-steroid day.
-
Nice wig Littleblue.
Ksusan I am right behind you on finishing TC. Wednesday is last one. The day before last chemo I get my Tattoos for radiation which will start on July 1st.
-
yay rockerwife! Way to leave the world of hard drugs behind lol!
So I didn't see my regular MO last friday, but another Dr in the department. He wasn't very helpful regarding neuropathy and hand foot and mouth syndrome. Still dealing with hot burny feet with blisters between the toes, and any damage I get to my fingers seems to multiply rather than healing. No infection yet thank heavens. Anyone else experiencing this and have any remedys? I do ice hands and feet during treatment...
-
littleblueflowers, I have neuropathy and I am taking Gabapentin, and all good! I tried to convince my MO that since my feet and hands and face are all good I do not need the drugs. Her opinion is that if I am all good it must be working, so I just keep eating them. She may just be right this time
I take 300 mg every morning and every night, but I reduced the dose, it was supposed to be 3 times a day, but hey if it is working I am not telling her just yet. Sorry I can't help with the burning and blistering. But I know someone will! Take care, you need those feet for all that hiking! Cheryl
-
Littleblue: My feet are fine on TC but when I was taking capecetibine (Xeloda) last year for colon cancer I had really sore, burning feet. No blisters but they were very red and hot...it would start about 10 days into my cycle (I was on 3 week cycles of pills...3 weeks on then one week off) and would last till my week off. My MO was aware of it, and basically there wasn't much that could be done aside from stay off my feet. I did ice them and rub shea butter on them...it made them feel better but never got rid of it.
Love the wig!
Andrea

Hoping for an easy ride for all you ladies who get chemo today!
-
ugh this is my last full week of not having my to do chemo. I'm going to try to enjoy this week and get as much done as possible. I start taxol next Tuesday. I'm wondering how most people did with it? What's your biggest SE from it? My MO said the main thing is neuropathy, and if I experience it to let him now. I hope everyone that's heading to the chair today does well
-
Thanks Andrea and Cheryl! Andrea, that sounds exactly like what I have going on. Since I've had the blisters for a few weeks, I'm guessing they are full of residual AC...probably not going to heal real well without help! Grrrrrrrr.
Cheryl, is gabapentine a vitamin? I will add it to my list to ask about!
Today I'm trying an application of bag balm and then toe Sox all day at work...
Good luck everyone going to the chair today! May your SEs be minimal! Xoxoxoxoxox
-
Dang it, you really have to suck in your gut if you don't have boobs...just sayin.
-
hahaha littleblueflowers I feel ya. I've been wearing baggy shirts but it doesn't seem to matter. My shirt always clings to my stomach
-
Sucking in your gut just makes those rib cage bones poke out more...who knew they were there!
-
I have taxol #2 tomorrow...my last one was followed by real bad abdominal cramps and real bad bone pain... Hips legs and small of the back. But only for about 3 days and gradually got better. I worked Thursday fri and Saturday and could barely walk yesterday but today is a bit better. Although I forgot to takes the pre steroids before last treatment, so maybe that would of helped... I won't forget this time.!. I'll letcha know how tomorrow goes:
-
kbee, thanks for the daily breakdown on what you're experiencing withTaxol!! I love hearing that it's not as hard as AC!!
This is another off chemo week for me...I'm feeling good but my hands and feet are sensitive to heat. I've got a little rash on my wrist and it looks like small blisters are coming up there too. Its something new and exciting all the time!?!?
Best wishes to everyone getting treatment this week!! May your SE be few!
-
Stacey, I hope this Taxol goes better for you!
Littleblue, I hope your MO has some suggestions. Other than cold soaks, icing them, and rest (and maybe elevation), I am not sure what they can do, Hoepfully they can suggest some creams or something to help.
Addie, Enjoy your chemo-free week.
Tomorrow is Taxol 3 of 12...will be 1/4 done with Taxol then...yahoo! I am actually working a bunch more hours than normal this week, so hoping I keep feelign good!
-
I think we have some birthdays this week, correct? Lynne and Fran? Tomorrow? Happy early birthday ladies!!! Any other June birthdays???
-
any of you ladies with expanders get back pain? My back pain started about a week after my bilateral mastectomy and had gotten better UNTIL I got my expanders filled last week then bam 2 days later I had back pain in my lower back and between my shoulder blades. Anyone else going through this? I know it's just muscular because icy hot and massages really seem to help it a lot.
-
Anyone have itchy hands/palms? I am 10 days post TC #2 and the itching started yesterday. No numbness, just itchy! Posting this in April and May forums to see if anyone else has experienced this. I emailed MO and waiting for response. Will try a Benadryl tonight.
-
Scarlett I'm on taxotere and the last 2 days I have itchy palms so weird! I get a slightly itchy throat while receiving it so I do believe I have a slight allergic reaction to it but it's been 10 days so it's in the same time frame as you let me know what your mo says!
-
Hahhaha, little blue! I had to suck in my belly before they took away the boobs. I am glad taxol is a little easier on your body. Wig looks great...curly is the way to go.
Safe infusions for those going in this week. Drink lots of fluid, be gentle with yourselves, and eat nutritiously.
Post chemo blues have hit me and even if I expected it, I was not prepared. Feeling weepy and coming to terms with the past 6 months of hell. Inefficiencies of medical care: appt scheduling, making sure that my prescriptions were sent to pharmacist 3x, etc. really frustrates me! I really hate cancer
-
Itchy scratchy hands, itchy scratchy hot feet, itchy scratchy throat, itchy scratchy lips..3 days post Taxol #1. To me it feels like a contact dermatitis, but coming from the inside. I bet it has to do with your body trying to excrete Taxol out through your skin??? Aughhh, its coming out my pores! I'm growing leaves! And Bark! Seriously...my skin is turning into bark. Guess the green man wants his pound of flesh after all..
-
Oh yeah. So, my biggest most major issue directly post Taxol was diarrhea. Like, uncontrollable, thought I was going to have to get adult diapers. Not even kidding. Ladies going into that, be prepared. But, it only lasted a few hours!
-
oh littleblueflowers you have an awesome sense of humor- it's just like mine. Honestly I go co for a good round of diarrhea. Since I've started chemo I haven't been able to go more than twice a week.
-
Taxol can cause constipation, diarrhea, neither, or both. It is different for everyone...kind of like a bad grab bag.
-
Kbeee, that's hilarious, a bad grab bag. Oh fun and joy! hahahahaha cancer so freaking sucks.
-
TC causes itchy ear canals for me.
Post TC #4 I have a slight headache, dry yet watery eyes, sore follicles including eyebrows and eyelids, slight runny nose, slight itchy/achy ears, slight sore throat, swollen tongue, achy teeth, achy jaw, achy throat (esp. on the port side), achy trapezius, tight surgical incisions, tight underarms, sore port and shoulder area, zingy and achy arm pain, numb finger nails, sore drainage scars, slight digestive distress, slight long bone pain in legs, toe/nail pain and numbness, dizziness, fatigue, and weepiness/emotional reactivity--AND I DON'T CARE! I'm so happy to be done with chemo! I slept pretty much from 3 PM yesterday to 10 AM this morning (with 6 PM-9 PM awake for dinner and a walk). It's my longest block of mostly-sleeping since November. It was great.
This morning I got these booked: My last blood draw, port removal, and radiation sim. Also booked already: PT/lymphedema consult, dermatology skin check, naturopathic oncology consult, lymphedema manual drainage training. Still to schedule: Radiation treatments, deferred PAP/annual, deferred eye exam, whatever cardio and resistance training is okayed by the PT, and 3-month follow-up with MO. Fitting all of this around my early summer intensive teaching is a bit of a challenge, but I'm really glad to be moving on from chemo and getting the still-painful port out.
#3: I am grateful to have medical insurance, and all of these appointments in the works.
