Has anyone with DCIS had hyper-fractionated radiation? This is when they do rads twice a day for 10-14 days instead of every day for 5 weeks? All of the studies I've found are with IDC. . .they don't recommend it for grade 3 IDC. My cells are grade 3 but DCIS, not IDC (as far as I know).

This type of radiation was mentioned as an option for me with my Grade 3 DCIS. I am choosing to go with DBL MX and avoid the radiation entirely.

Hi Motherof4. I had this type of rads. I did it 2x a day for 5 days. It was a higher amount of radiation for each treatment than it would have been if spread out. It was like having 10 boosts instead of having.low gays over 30 or so treatments. I had a little redness and some serious fatigue when I was done (lasted about a month) and now, my breast has shrunk a bit. I was in a clinical trial so I see the RO 2x a year and she records everything and they take photos at 1 year and each year until 5 years. It was called "partial breast rads" and I had to be seeded with gold seeds prior to starting my treatment. If you have any questions that I did not cover, let me know.

One more thing...had to have a CT scan each and every day to make sure they pinpointed everything exact because it was partial breast rads.
