How to measure response to chemo?

Hi Everyone,

I'm writing on behalf of my family member with the following diagnosis:

- IDC, ER-/PR-, HER2+, Grade 3

- on TCHP reigmen

- Original ultrasound: 1.3 x 1.0 x 1.1 cm

- Ultrasound halfway through TCHP reigmen: 1.2 x 0.5 x 0.9 cm

We're not sure how to interpret these results - the overall volume of the tumor has shrunk by over 60% but the longest diameter of the tumor doesn't seem to have decreased much(1.3 to 1.2cm) With 3 more rounds of TCHP to go, can anyone provide input on what this response looks like? It seems like in most literature and posts here most people refer to their tumor size as just one number(longest diameter?) Has anyone had a similar response halfway through this regimen and what were your next steps?

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated as it's been very hard to find info on this subject. Thanks so much!

Hi! Welcome to Breastcancer.org! We're sorry that someone you love is going through this, but we're glad that you found this wonderful community, and hopefully soon you'll get responses from others who can help.

Also, we wanted to let you know that there is another forum that you may be interested to read-join. It's called For Caregivers, Family, Friends and Supporters forum, a place to share your struggles on supporting and caring for a person you love, whether just diagnosed, or in end stage.

    Hope this helps!
