Had my infusion yesterday. Does anyone else get headaches? I'm not sure if it's the chemo or all the meds but I'm finding it's pretty routine now. Tylenol gets rid of it, so they aren't too bad, just annoying

A belated happy birthday to Kbeee and Andrea! Congrats to those of your who have finished and soon to finish ac! I'm sitting in the chemo chair doing TCHP #4 right now. I think cheers to Ksusan and ankledolphin and anyone else in the chair today. I'm with you gkodad, not loving g this especially after how #3 treated me. It was very hard to bring myself here today... not at all looking forward to the next few days of se's. I'm hoping to be in top form a week from tomorrow because I go for my surgery then. I surely don't want to still be feeling sick on that day!
In case I don't get to say it on the day, happy birthday to Lynn and Fran! Mexican food and margaritas are my favorite too! I hope you enjoy !!!

Hello. This is my first post. I started chemo the end of April. AC x4 then Tx4. I am going for #4 AC soon. I am really nervous because I have not been tolerating it well. I have the standard fatigue and nausea in the beginning but by day 5-8 I have severe weakness both arms and legs. Does anyone else have severe weakness? I can only use my arms for short periods of times. It is hard to write. It takes me almost the whole time to recover. I feel ok for about 2-3 days before next treatment. Does anyone else have really weak arms and legs
-
after all 4 of my ac treatments my whole body felt tired and weak. But it usually only last from Tuesday night to Saturday. The chemo would actually make me more sore than the neulasta shot. You are not alone
-
WOO! DONE WITH CHEMO!
Good wishes for others in the chair today.
-
YAY KSUSAN!!!
-
Yahoo KSusan! Doin the happy dance

So can you get chemo when sick? My husband has been sick for a few days, and finally got antibiotics. I called my MO to see if they would give me some, since I get Taxol #1 tomorrow. The nurse said they would just wait on my blood work. I'm not feeling great, but can't tell if its just chemo flu or something new. Is there some kind of threshold beyond which they will not give you chemo, but before which they will give it to you even if you are a little under the weather?
-
Congrats ksusan! YAY!
Welcome sunshine100! After neulasta I had weakness for several days...sometimes it felt like my knees were going to buckle.
slv58...I got headaches with every treatment, usually they started while I was in the chemo chair.
Hope all of you who had treatment today are doing well!!
-
headache could be from neulasta if you are getting it. My MO said it can cause headaches behind forehead because of the marrow in the skulls being boosted. (Or something like that :-)
-
Congratulations KSusan! I can't imagine how you must feel, but I'm looking forward to experiencing it on July 9th!! Hoping for low SE for you!
-
congrats ksusan! Can't wait until it's my last. I have 12 more to go.
-
Congratualtions, ksusan!! Hope u SEs come and go quickly and u can celebrate being finished.
Slv, the headaches can be from the steroids and/or zofran. Motrin and tapering the decadron worked fori mine. Check with ur MO. Good luck, I found the headaches worse than the other SEs. Was so happy when one extra half dose of decadron on day 4 and 600mg motrin got rid of them.
Hugs to All...
Arlene

Ksusan!!! Hooray!!! Wishing everyone a good weekend. Headed to a Ladies pink event in my hometown and it's a beautiful evening.
-
I actually stopped taking the zofran. I couldn't stand the headaches. My MO said it was okay as long as my nausea was managed. Hang in there and feel better everyone. Tonight I am for some reason feeling very depressed and weepy. I was fine this morning and am having a tough time with this stupid tn status. I sorta feel like why bother with chemo if with tn it can decide just to come back? I know I'm being extreme and I have a family to fight for but I'm just feeling depressed and hopeless. I just need a good sleep and a good cry
-
congrats ksususan! So happy for you!!
Found this on Pinterest. Thought I woujd share!

Addie, I'm giving you a big hug and a shoulder to cry on. Let it out, then turn around and KNOW with your heart and soul that you will beat this! Your staging is great and your on the best chemo, this is really achievable.
It's normal to have down days, we all do and this is the best place to let it out. We are all here for you!
Thank you everyone for the headache advice, I will see about getting my zofran reduce. I didn't have problems with it before so wasn't suspecting that.
-
thank you for your support. Most days are good but this evening has been a tough one. Tomorrow is a new day.

Oh, I hear you! Some days I feel so strong and Up... And some days the TN takes the fight outa me. Ugh. But I hold on to the Fact that chemo works on high grade TN. We have to try so hard to just get through the next few years... My MO says 3...and we are home free. My thoughts are with you, big hugs, too. I act so tough, but some days I just want to cry. Strength from our sisters will keep us going.
Love, arlene

ksusan! OMG..Congratulations on being done. YEAH.
Addie - sending you a big hug. Totally normal to feel that way. I had a huge meltdown this weekend and cried myself into a migraine which lasted 2 days. Sigh. I needed to just cry about how I felt like I had been hit out of nowhere by a freaking freight train called cancer. Just remember the stress hormones are really released in tears.
Headaches - thank you everyone for talking about this. I had the worst migraine ever this past week after chemo and zofran. I just put it down to hormones but it might have been the meds. Sigh
-
Addie I also get that way I am her2 positive and all though they have made manyadvances I still get sad thinking why can't I just have the "regular" breast cancer but we have to remain confident and be happy they caught it early and we will beat this!!!
-
Thanks everyone!
Addie--perfectly normal to melt down periodically.
Littleblue--check out Jackbirdie's recent posts in the March thread for her experience of illness and chemo.
My mom and her husband sent a little money for a post-chemo cekebration, and she agrees that we may want to do that in 4 weeks when the port is out. Meanwhile, I'm on the treadmill because a certain amount of chocolate was consumed to mark high enough blood counts, good port function, and no anaphylaxis!
-
Addie, I didn't see your post when I posted that pic of "chemo sucks".
Sorry you are feeling down. We all get that way at times. It's natural. Don't be hard on yourself. We get it.
Tomorrow is a new day.
Take care!

Ugh, supposed to get Taxol 1 of 4 tomorrow at 10 am. Have to get blood drawn at 0830. Not feeling so great...scratchy throat, itchy ear, fatigue. Also nausea and general dispepsia. Having a real hard time psyching myself up to meet the wizard and get my dose of tree sap. I really just want to curl up in a hole an cry. Not feeling fearsome right now. Any chemosabes riding with me on this quest tomorrow?
-
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone I love the graphics, slv!
Congrats on being done with chemo ksusan!!!
Lynne, DH and I saw the movie "Tomorrowland". It was great!
Littleblue: re illness and chemo - I have had a viral thing since just after my first chemo and I saw my MO today. She said it was up to me if I wanted to postpone the next chemo or not. I have a cough and am congested but otherwise am okay...my chest is clear and I have no fever. So I am going ahead with TC#3 next Thursday. Of course my blood work will be drawn the day before and if there are any issues chemo will be postponed.
Saw the RO for the first time yesterday. My rads should start early August and I will have 28 sessions. I get radiated on both sides because I had bilateral BC. I've been referred to a plastic surgeon to talk about reconstruction.

WTG!!!! Only good thoughts and long life for you!

Addie29
You are not alone with your feelings...I hope you were able to get a good nites sleep and wake up this morning feeling more positive. I too get days where I feel this dreaded disease is going to do me in especially since protocol calls for Rads at the end of my one year of tx and I cannot have the radiation.. I try to stay positive and pray for new breakthroughs in the very near future.
Sending good vibes your way.

Good luck with your #1 T. Hoping you have a very positive experience with little to no s/e. I go for my first T on June 10th.
-
A strong person is not the one who doesn't cry. A strong person is one who is quiet, sheds tears for a moment and then picks up her sword and fights again. Keep fighting. You are stronger than you know.
-
Addie, sorry it was tough for you. There's something to be said for a good cry. It can be freeing and cleansing. Hoping today finds you in better spirits. (((hugs)))
Ksusan, congrats to you!!! BTW, yesterday when I got home from chemo I went grocery shopping and then came home and made congee ( rice porridge). I've wanted to ever since you mentioned it and I found it a nice comforting tasted dish... something that I'll be able to eat/taste for the next few days when all things are either tasteless or gross!
Littleblue, hope you're feeling better today and are able to start your taxol. My thoughts are with you and any others visiting the bar today.
Small se's to all!!!
