I'm so sorry you find yourself here. This is all so scary but please know you are not alone. You might want to post a note on the stage 3 thread as well? I'm sure there are lots of ladies who have been exactly where you are and can give you some great words of advice. All I can say is take one day at a time and tackle each new obstacle as they come. My mom was dx almost 2 years ago, stage 3,
had lots of nodes involved, BMX, chemo and rads and she is doing great today.Hang in there!

Jdressin-we are pretty much in the same boat. I too just had a bmx with tissue expanders, about two weeks ago. Stage 3, eleven pos lymph nodes. I am getting my port placed next Tues and starting chemo the day after. After all that radiation and then HT. Our paths seem very alike!!
If you ever need to talk to someone, I'm on here quite a bit.
Stay strong!!

Hey Julie,
Thanks for your response. I was wondering where you were located? I'm from NY, but live in Fl. Our diagnosis sounds extremely similar. I also had nipple sparing procedure and will find out tomorrow if they will have to yet take them off as well bc they turned blk, This and healing is holding up my treatment. You sound so strong and positive, I appreciate that very much and hope it rubs off onto me. I thought radiation was 1st? Anyway, look forward to hearing from you again soon, Kick ass!!
Stay strong too!

Hi ladies - I don't come back here often but just popped in and saw your posts. I was diagnosed stage 3 (5 pos nodes) this week in 2008. Seven years ago. And there are many others like me. Check out the stage 3 boards! feel free to message me if I can help at all.

thanks for the well wishes everyminute. The support I am receiving from this board is amazing.

I am from Pennsylvania. Been here for 39 years. Too bad you weren't closer
I am getting chemo first. That is to wipe out all the cancer cells in my body. After that, they do radiation. That is a more localized treatment to just the area where the cancer was known to be. That is how it is usually done.
Keep me posted with how you are doing. Hope the antibiotics work for you.
Talk to you soon

Hey Julie,
I hope you are doing well? I have a few complications myself which is putting off my chemo. I am meeting w/my chemo dr again next week, waiting for infection from nips to get port and start chemo. I have some additional issues that are scaring me about the chemo treatments. I was advised Im going on 2 meds for aggressive treatment and will exacerbate my chronic pain.Have you started chemo? How many rounds?
Real anxious...

jdressin- My little sister was diagnosed with Stage IIIb like you 11 years ago at the age of 27. If I remember correctly she had 16 positive nodes. She underwent a BMX, dose dense chemo, zoladex injections, radiation, and breast reconstruction with TE's. Her MO put her on Tamoxifen too. She's also ER/PR positive but HER 2 negative. Her BRCA 1 came back with the gene mutation. As of 2 years ago she had an oophorectomy and uterus removed as she was high risk for ovarian cancer. She has 3 beautiful children and is doing great. I hope this helps in some way. You'll have a lot of support here at BCO!

Hey J!
That really sucks about that stinkin' infection! It feels like 2 steps forward and 1 step back. BUT...it is just a bit of a hurdle and you will be on the right track soon!!
As for your chronic pain, there has to be some good meds your docs can give you right? I sure hope so. I think being stàge three they need to attack it aggressively so we just gotta do it. Hang in there!! This whole thing is just really shitty!!(sorry for the language) The things we have to go through to get healthy again. Just know you are NOT alone.
Keep me posted at how you are doing. I'm getting my port today and first chemo treatment tomorrow. I hope you are not too far behind me!!
I'll be thinking and praying for you. We are going through this together!!
