Kbee: I also just had #2 and so far so good, so I am cautiously optimistic. I can see the fatigue is going to be an issue though.

Allison, I agree about the fatigue. Of course being up all night on steroids does not help the fatigue situation in upcoming days. Next week, I will just make a list of things to do like mop the floors. It'll be more productive than tossing and turning! Glad it is going well for you so far. I've felt good too. I am hoping to get a run in today fro a couple miles.

Has anyone had blood in their urine as a SE from cytoxan? Sunday night (Thursday was treatment) I started running a slight fever and saw a little blood in my urine. It started getting worse so i called the emergency line and the MO on call prescribed me antibiotics. Monday morning my normal MO's nurse saw that I called the day before and told me to come in for a urine sample. I went in, peed in a cup, went back to work. Never heard anything back so I kept on taking the antibiotics.

Luckily my hospital chain has a patient portal online and you can see all of your lab results, appointments, bills, etc and I got a notification that my test results were up. It clearly meant nothing to me but it did confirm that there was blood in my urine. So I called the MO the next day (Tuesday) and another nurse called me back to tell me that it's not an infection and to stop taking the antibiotics. Hmm..ok. So I asked why there's blood in my urine. I stumped her. She kept saying what I was seeing was from the adriamyacin which I KNEW wasn't right b/c the red stuff doesn't last 3 days! She then told me it's probably just my period. Um, no. I know it's not. So she put me on hold and then came back saying she talked to the nurse practitioner and it seems to be from the Cytoxan. It can cause sepsis like symptoms, including blood in the urine. And to just stay hydrated. I'm still not a fan of the answer but I'll bring it up again with my MO when I see her next week. :/ The blood has gone away completely today it seems so at least that is over with.

Anyone else deal with this? Of course I googled sepsis and yeah..that doesn't sound fun either.

The only thing I can say is that I was told that Cytoxin can cause damage to your bladder so to not hold the urge to go to the bathroom and empty your bladder ASAP. I was drinking a lot of water during AC to get it out of my system and was constantly going. I always had that in my mind and never held it in for long.

Yes, yes, yes!!!! I had it when I was on TC and I have it now. I finished AC 4 weeks ago. I developed blood after round 3 of AC. The Cytoxan is broken down into a substance which can mess with your bladder. My urinalysis also showed no infection, but moderate blood. Since then, about 4 or 5 days a week, my urine looks like it did day 2 after AC. My MO is aware of it and expects it to ease soon. If it continues, I will bring it back up, but I forgot yesterday when I saw him. I do not see him for 2 more weeks, so hopefully it has resolved by then. If not, I'll try to remember to ask about it.

kbeee, after I posted I actually did a search on this forum for other posts about cytoxan causing blood in the urine and your old posts popped up. helped put me at ease a bit but I *love* (sarcasm) how we seem to be the two lucky ones on this forum with this side effect. :) This was after my 2nd AC so two more to go, ugh! And I love how the MO's seem unphased.

rleepac, I had the numb tongue and lips too. My MO told me that was weird and not possible. Really? I take 600 mg of Gabapentin daily for my feet and it has all gone away. If it stays that way we are going to discontinue it next visit. Best to stop it fast, as you know :)

My Hgb has stabilized and actually went up from 8.9 last week to 9.4 this week. I guess my MO was right

    Hey Ladies,

Can we talk Taxol? I've had my first one, and here is what happened to me:

    Day 1: galloping diarrhea

Day 2-3: Steroided up, not feeling too bad, but muscle pain pretty bad. Even sore to touch. Not sure how much is due to Neulasta and how much taxol. Appetite good. Mouth and tongue a little white, but no sores.

Day 4: Steroid crash, emotional mess, black outlook, feeling fluish..stuffy nose, runny eyes, sore throat, bone and muscle pain all over

Day 5-7: Flue feeling continues, stuffy nose, lots of post nasal drip, body aches, especially in the low back, mild fatigue

Day 8: Stop taking claritin. Lots of the flu feeling cleared up, most of the muscle and bone pain gone, natural energy back up. ( MO says this should be my nadir day, but with Neulasta, who knows? I'm not being monitored except the day I go in for treatment, so no clue what my blood is looking like.

Day 9-10: Stuffy nose and post nasal drip continues, but has eased up. Eyes constantly puffy. Notice eyelashes and brows have thinned a lot, but ankle hair seems to be growing??? Energy back at estimated 50% of healthy normal, and 200% better than A/C. Off and on burning feeling in mouth, but no real sores. Appetite still good, no nausea.

ya. That's pretty similar to mine but no nose drip I had that on a/c. No diarrhea either. I noticed mostly on taxol the bone pain and the sore tongue. Felt like it was burning and swolen but never had mouth sores. That lasted for about 2-3 days. Bone pain lasted about 10 days. All easier than a/c.

There is a weekly taxol thread but it sounds like you are doing dense dose.

Yes, I think it might be a bit harder but there are some people posting in the weekly taxol thread who are getting dense dose. If you want the link, let me know.
