I had a mastectomy on my left breast back in February. Plan on having Tramp flap method done but am needing help from others out there that had this same procedure. Surgery is planned in August. I am scared; which I know is normal. But the surgeon discussed my need to lose weight (10-15 lbs); which I am trying; I am dieting and exercising, but I am not losing much (6 lbs). I am having trouble losing that weight in my upper abdomen. He was saying I may not be pleased with the outcome if I don't. Has anyone experienced this? And can anyone just give me any guidance in general. I live in a smaller city; there is not much support.

    Kysunshine, I am sorry you are having to go thru this. I am glad you have found this website for info and support. I havenot had the kind of recon you are planning...I did consider it, but it just wasn't for me. I am bumping your question to the top of the active threads, I am hoping some one else will respond soon with some info. Have you had a chance to check out this wonderful website? I have learned so much here. Hang in there,do not get discouraged. Treatment and recovery takes months, but there is light at the end of this long tunnel, and good health can be yours again.     there is a website called BreastReconstruction.org....they have a lot of info in all types of recon, I found it to be very helpful. You can see pictures of all types of reconstruction, you might want to check it out.
