Mum AND Dad both had breast cancer

hi everyone!

I just wanted to know whether anyone else has had both of their parents with breast cancer? Dad had a mastectomy 4 days ago and we are waiting for further info. My mum had breast cancer at 49 and survived but died of melanoma. Because they aren't in the same side if the family, there doesn't seem to be much information? Dad is also a Vietnam veteran and his best friend (male also) passed away from breast cancer last year.

Hi Bothparents, welcome to BC.org! We hope you find it to be a place of support and helpful information. Your situation is not very common, but we're sure you'll get answers and support from other members under similar circumstances. If it helps, take a look at the article Family History, from the Risk Factors section of our main site. That may help you get a better idea of what means having close relatives who've been diagnosed with breast cancer.
