I had bilateral preventive mastectomy with implants 3 years ago. Today I found a pea-sized hard lump on my right nipple under the skin. I have a very high cancer due to my strong family history! I follow up with the PS in July---just wondering if I should make an earlier appointment. Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

HI, Can you get an earlier appointment? The waiting is so hard, I just think you will feel better getting some answers sooner. Hang in there hugs to you

I'd go in earlier if you can. Especially since you had LCIS that stuff is sneaky. Good luck!

I'd get it checked out, just for peace of mind if nothing else. That's how my ILC presented itself, small pea size lump next to the nipple.

Thanks for the replies! I'm scared and think I should be seen sooner! LCIS is sneaky.

Can you get referral from your PCP to get US at a breast center sooner? Sometimes they will do mammograms with implants on a reconstructed breast too. Hugs!

I decided to get an ultrasound today and will see the nurse practitioner after that. I didn't sleep well last night

Very nice, there is no reason you should anxiously wait when you have already had cancer once. Fingers crossed it's fat necroses or something benign.

Thanks to everyone for prayers and thoughts. I have skin thickening which could be scar tissue or fat necrosis in several areas and they are not concerned about any cancer at this time. Recheck in 6 months. 14 breast biopsies in my life! Mastectomy X2. Enough is enough!

Blessings to everyone and know that I pray for good health for my breast cancer sisters

    I'm glad it's nothing major.

I am adding to this thread because I also just got the Good news that my lumpy breast (the one that had cancer in it!!) is not full of cancer but full of fat necrosis. I was not warned that this could happen from surgery and radiation and it literally took years off my life worrying about it. Just got the results that it's emphatically benign and fat necrosis. I felt compelled to share because I was having a hard time finding others who had the same. God Bless us all, the journey never ends.
