Calcium Deposits Found
My father passed away from cancer, as did his sister from breast cancer, and his mother from bone marrow cancer. To say the least I have a family history. Just last week I went in for a mammogram. The imaging place called to say I needed to come back. The person I spoke to did not know why as she "just called to schedule" and i should call my doctor to see what they found on the mammogram. After two days of leaving messages with my doctor he finally called back to say the reason they want to do a follow up is due to the fact they found calcium deposits both at 6 and 7 on my left breast. I have an diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound scheduled next week. I am trying to keep it together for my son but I am beyond terrified of what they will find.

I know the fear. Everyone on BCO knows it all too well. Ultimately you have to endure the waiting for the test results. If it helps at all, I had my calcium deposits biopsied and they were benign. Please know that regardless of the test results, the waiting is the hardest part. Once we have information we determine a course of action and move forward. I know you're terrified, Hoping. Please hold on.

We want to welcome you to our community here at BCO. We're sorry for the worry that brings you here, but we're glad you've joined us, and hope you find the support you need.
The waiting is truly one of the hardest parts. We don' t have much advice on how to get through it, but just know that you're not alone. Everyone here has had to wait for results, and it's maddening and frightening. We hope the next week goes by quickly and keeps you busy!
Please keep us posted on how you're doing, and what your mammo and ultrasound show. We're thinking of you, and hoping for b9!

hi hoping1,
I just got my annual diagnostic mammagram on May 21. They just found "new calcifications" about 4 they said on my left breast. After taking more 3d images, they sent me to ultrasound. I was already cyring and upset before that. I've had calcifications before on both breasts and they were particularly concerned with the right one a few years ago. After an ultrasound was done on that, they found cysts which were benign. I thought this would be the same. But 3 doctors can't be sure, and the original recommendation was to be checked again in 6 months. After the attending MD called me a couple days ago, she says she always offers the option of a biopsy to most of her patients because most have kids and can't wait that long. So, I agreed. But, oh my God. I might have cancer. Those 4 words just replay in my mind. I have one daughter and my husband, and I take care of my mom that lives with us. So many people depend on me. I am terrified. Let's wish each other the best outcome, ok? But I'm with you on your feeling and fears. My father's sister (my aunt) also passed away from breast cancer so it's in our gene pool as well. Hope to hear from you. I'm sorry we have to go through this. But it helps to read and write about it

I forgot to add that my biopsy is on June 4th. Each day is torture.
