Love the song Ms. Chevy. Brought tears to my eyes. My youngest uncle fought in the Vietnam War. He didn't die physically, but part of him died along with so many other young men. He got into drugs and alcohol after the American troops pulled out and passed away in his 30's.

Guess what I am going to learn this summer? On my bucket list, the STEEL DRUM! Taking a class in June from the local jazz workshop.

Ya mon! Oh maybe some dreadlocks too?

Chevy.. I loved the song too.. Thanks for sharing.

Rose.. I don't get up when I can't sleep in the night. .. Mostly just play on the phone , trying to block the light a bit under the covers... I don't want to wake Hubby with it.. in case he thinks it'd be a good opportunity to " have some fun.." 😃

Loveroflife.. I feel so sorry for the young men who went to Vietnam...A lot of them came home addicted to drugs and alcohol., and without the hero's.welcome the men from previous wars received :-(

Jazzy! I have seen those played somewhere! My little Brother is mostly into percussion, and has made money by being with his "friends" and not going out alone....

Chevy- if you have spent any time in the Caribbean, this is where you will hear the steel drums the most. Although there is more of it interwoven into some of the latin jazz songs around now (big fan/player of latin jazz).

This is my dream song to be able to play. I just need to find the great back up band to go with it (and fortunately, I have a lot of music peeps here!)

    Ray Obiedo and St. Lucia

I have been sitting here fretting for hours. Got up this morning to find vomit and bloody diarrhea on the bedroom floor and took Rose to the vet. Nacho had to spend the night. They still have no answer as to the cause. I can't even think straight. Nacho is a dear, but he is DH's dog. Rose is the dog of my heart and I think some of you if not all know just what that means. The hardest thing about losing Nacho would be how hard it would be on Rose, but losing Rose is just unthinkable. I am tied up in knots.

Joining the circle of caring for your pups Mags!! I stayed up many a night watchful over pets from surgeries and sickness, dosing pain meds, giving fluids.. checking endlessly... like they were patients! I swear that's why my pets live so long. I have no doubt I am not alone in my OCD over being the furbies voiceless' voice and care giver. I am sure Luvmygoats, Sassy and Wren sound cut from the same cloth. Fingers crossed Nacho and Rose do well.

Loveroflif- glad to know I am not the only one who is clueless about cocktails. Just wine thanks. My sciatic pain is much improved.. just tweaked it- thank goodness. Still got hip pain but it is better. Jazzy those steel drums are so exciting, love the music. I have always admired the Indian Tabla drums. Those would be so fun to learn to play. We will see if I can sleep tonight or need to roam the boards.. bored and up!

Ladies, what a night last night. Again thankfully my county was spared most of the damage last night. The towns of Bridgeport and Runaway Bay suffered the most damage. Bridgeport is 23 miles NW of me. I did hospice nursing there for a year in 2008. But the most amazing thing is I think no major injuries and no deaths for sure. Another tornado on the county line SW of me. We had minimal rain last night thru it all. Texas/Oklahoma need to dry out for a bit though TX will never turn down water in the long run.

Mags - praying for your Nacho and Rose. I would do like Sassy says and save their old food but change it for the moment.

Sassy - congrats on DS's accomplishments. Proud mama bear.

Rose - HaHa I feed our dog salmon/potato from Blue. I made her chicken free last year. Read chicken might aggravate skin conditions. Which reminds me I need to call the vet. She has never had a flea problem but by golly we've got one this year. I need something to treat her but it will have to be something gentle with all her skin problems. DH has stuff to spray the yard but no need to spray yet when it rains daily or floods regularly. His job is also a problem. With his crazy hours (12p-9p) doesn't leave much time to do stuff b4 work. So if it doesn't get done on his days off it doesn't get done.

Amazingly the 2 puny fruit trees are holding on to what they had. The peach tree seems to have lost some but the tiny plums are abundant. They are good but only about a 2-bite size at best.

Lucy - lol Blue Lagoon and blue teeth. Now you all have me looking up drink recipes. Naughty. My favorite used to be a Colorado Bulldog - vodka, Kahlua, coke and cream/milk. Of course it had no calories, right??

Spent the day cleaning house. DD coming out Friday. Sad to say that's what got my lazy hiney up to clean.

Mags, So hoping they both recover quickly. It's always such a worry when they can't tell you what happened and how they're feeling. Sending healing vibes. And hugs for you.

Luvmygoats- we even have the cats on salmon and sweet potatoe. Our one cat has severe allergies; years of prednisone and she would itch herself to death over one flea bite, bloody bald spots. We now use something new called Revolution, topical flea/ mite/heartworm med. This is great stuff! My cat Zoey has never looked better! Between the food and revolution she's needed no steroids. Works wonders on the dogs as well. I use a spray called Knock-out on kennel bedding and dog beds. Never a flea issue, need ventillation and it has to dry. The stuff is toxic and 18$ a can at the vets, but it lasts and it works. Vets use it and recommended it to us.

Luvmygoats- I heard TX got ALOT of tornadoes. I lived in the DFW area once long ago and remember this time of the year only too well. Spring is a scary time in your neck of the woods.

Mags- keep us posted on how the dogs are doing. Praying they both pull through.

Both of the kiddos are spending the night at the vet's. I don't know how I'm going to sleep without that warm lump to cuddle. I wish I could shake this sense of impending doom. We still have no clue what is causing the problem, but either it is contagious or they both got into something. Our yard is a jungle, neither of us has been up to doing anything out there, and the cottonwood has been fierce this year and we are both so allergic to it. I guess I will put a mask on and brave the wilderness tomorrow. I'm supposed to call at 10 for an update.

You are all so great to be so supportive and caring. Thank you all.

Can't sleep. Tinnitus is in full force. Sounded like I am in the tropics at night surrounded by cicadas. I think it's the Keflex that my PS prescribed to help prevent post-op infection. Took me awhile to figure that out. At first, I thought maybe it was the anesthetic or the Emend given to prevent nausea. Never in a million years I thought that Keflex could be an ototoxic drug. I have one more day left of the antibiotic, but I think I am going to stop. Hoping everyone is sound asleep right now.

I have my two on Trifexis. A monthly pill. No fleas, ticks, repels Mosquitos, so no heart worm. Not cheap, but no need for other treatments and expense.

I have Activyl waiting at the vet for dog's flea problem. Tried to give me a pill good for 3 months which I declined. This dog is 8, barfs on cue. Can't see giving her a long acting oral drug. If she reacts what the heck would I do. Activyl is a topical. I read lots of comments. Seems Frontline is not working so great. Will give it a try. Parts of her allergic skin look better but she's chewing/licking on the tops of her paws something awful. Not sure if that's grass allergy or fleas; think odd place for flea problem. Would hardly let me look at them and usually she's OK, not pleased but lets me look. DH bathed her Tuesday. Guess it's my turn tomorrow. I just manage to sit on bathtub edge and get it done. May need a hearty cocktail or more likely a 2nd round of Advil afterward.

She's already on Heartguard for heartworms but I think that works differently, internal if they ingest a flea.

Praying you get good news Mags.

Love - adore the wedgie cartoon. Not surprised on the Keflex. Hope you are soonest finished with it. Got up to pee about 4 am. Couldn't decide if it was my tinnitus or thunder. Finally saw some lightening out the window. Bingo. Big storms rolled thru about 5:30-6 with heavy rain. Parts of north Ft. Worth are heavily flooded. All parts of TX are out of exceptional or extreme drought. Gosh would have thought most all would be out of all but the least but not quite yet. May get that next week.

Oh? Lucy is still in bed I'll bet... Yes Lilgoats.... We have had cloudy, stormy weather for the past WEEK! Just ain't any fun McGee!

Hope all you guys pets are doing better today.... It's just such a worry when they have something wrong with them!

Went to see my friend Carol yesterday.... I really don't think she will ever get back to the way she was... Too much time went by before her Son found her after that stroke... She is maybe going home next Wednesday... They have her trying a walker, but she can't move her right leg yet... Right arm just a little... but it's her speech... Can only say a couple words still.... I know she IS getting better, but man, it is really going slow...

Her Son emailed that they have 24 hour care in place, because she HAS to be able to use a walker... not just the wheel chair... I think our age, plus so much time went by after the stroke before she got any help....

And my friend Theresa is doing VERY good! She has started playing Bingo at that place now! Just won 2 more dollars! One gal told her GO home Theresa, you won yesterday! Hah! Altogether, this past week she has won $8! That little gambler! But she sounds so good, and is coming out of that long worry/mourning process she has been under for about 6 months! So it's fun to talk to her.... she calls every night after her Dinner, and we talk and laugh and just act silly.... I know you guys find that hard to believe.... But she is 90! Spookie I know you find that hard to believe, that ANYbody is older than I, but it's true... So Hah on you!

Going to lunch at our friend Rosie's house.... Loverly, she is the one from Viet Nam....!!! She is making "wraps" again for Janie and I. She is the Chef at one of the King Soopers here.... really a great cook! So despite this cooler, damp weather, we will have fun!

Could be a reaction to Heartguard. Can be toxic to herding breeds. Why they use a collie on they package is beyond me. There is a study from Washington State Univ that confirms the toxicity of this.Ingested fleas cause tapeworms, Mosquitos can cause heart worm. I've heard of that 3 month pill too won't give it. Most at my dog park won't either. Fleas have built up resistance to frontline plus too, was using it twice a month on my Aussie, just didn't work anymore.

It's actually Iverheart but I think it's the same ingredients. She's been on it since I got her. Maybe you're right, it's ingested mosquitoes not fleas. I know we keep her on it year round even here in North Texas.

No it's allergies. She's a rat terrier and I know terriers are prone to skin allergies. She went several years ago to the high dollar dog allergy doc. Allergic to almost everything environmental and I live in mini and not so mini ranchland. No food allergies - I just did the no chicken, no wheat because I thought it might contribute and no bigger deal to do it. She sneaks an occas. tidbit dropped on the floor but for the most part is wheat free. DH will go get the Activyl today and I'll put it on after bathing her tomorrow. DD will just have to suck it up and not snuggle as much with her tomorrow.

Chevy - sounds like Theresa is doing marvelously. But don't be surprised if grieving hits her hard again. Hope your friend Carol can go home even with 24 hour care. Glad her family is able to arrange this.

Just got off the phone with vet. She says they are their mystery patients. They had no more vomiting and diarrhea yesterday, so had breakfast this morning and being watched to see how that goes. If no more symptoms they can come home.

Cousin and I were talking about it this morning and we think Rose's symptoms might have been just anxiety. She only threw up once and had just a few little spot of diarrhea on the carpet, and nothing since she got there.

Thanks for all the good wishes etc., y'all know about that special bond.

Can we just have a boring weekend now? Maybe even followed by a boring week? The next week we head out to spend a long weekend with our Missouri friends and we are both so looking forward to that! (They are the ones who made an 8 hour drive each way to spend 24 hours with us when I was going through chemo, and we just sat on the couch and yanked and watched movies.)
