well I'm pretty dosed up with meds they gave me at chemo. I'd hate to take anything else because they always seem to cause me side effects. I'm going to try to stick it out.

Kbeee: Thanks for the compliment re looking too young to be a grandma! It helps that I had my kids young. They are not following suit though. My daughter had her first at 30 and my son is 29 and no kids on the horizon...

Ksusan and Rockerwife: Yay for the good test results!

Stephmoen: I usually see the oncologist 2-3 days before chemo. I have bloodwork drawn the day before chemo...the chemo nurses check the results on the day of chemo and if there is a problem they will let the oncologist know.

I cut my hair chin length before my surgery in March (it had been past my shoulders) to make it easier to care for postop - I knew I would need help washing it. With the chemo, it started coming out day 12 after TC#1. I would get tons of it on my hairbrush, and in the shower it came out in fistfuls. It took a few days before I had the time to do anything about it...in the meantime there was hair EVERYWHERE. I finally went to my husband's hairdresser who works out of her house and she shaved it for me. So glad, my head is not constantly shedding anymore! And the weather is quite warm so it's cooler.

Here is my very overdue bio. This is the very condensed version. I am 46 years old and have one son that is 10. I also have two step sons, one is 14 and the other 17. We only have them every other weekend if that. I grew up in Miami Florida and went to school at University of South Fl in Tampa. I got my Bachelors in Sociology. Moved to Southern Ca when I was 26 because my family came out here. I entered into a teaching credential program because there is not much you can do with just a BA in Sociology.I took a long time finishing that program due to certain requirements that forced me take extra classes. So I began teaching at 31. I married my first husband at 29 and divorced him at 42 in 2011. We have one son as I mentioned before and share 50/50 custody. Soon after, I met my current husband. Married him March 2014. We had only been married a year when I got diagnosed. He is my rock, my soulmate, and my best friend. I would not have been able to get through this with out his support.

My Husband's best friend married us. In CA you can deputy commission someone for one day to perform

a wedding. He had on clown shoes and at the end gave us clown noses to remind us to always laugh.

Going for #2 tomorrow. More apprehensive than I was for #1!!!!

Littleblue: I'm going to the chemo spa on Thursday My husband and I have season tickets to a dinner theatre so we made reservations to see The Mousetrap tomorrow night, while I'm feeling well (ie, pre chemo). Can't wait!

Rockerwife: Love the pics!

A good friend of mine dropped by with two wigs she bought but has never worn, and they are cute!! I bought myself two yesterday as well, so I have four to choose from! The one I am most excited about is a cute pink bob. If I have to be bald, I may as well make the most of it and have fun trying different looks!

Many of you may remember I posted I was having a really rotten time at work last week. I actually had to bring in HR and have grounds for harassment and discrimination. I believe some investigating and firing is also happening. Oh yeah and did I mention I work in the healthcare field?! Yep really. Needless to say I'm working with HR to move to a different position and department so that I'm in a better supported, healthier place. This is not what I expected I would have to go thru on top of chemo, eerrrghhhh a job change now of all times. Praying over the next week, while I review what my options are, that it will be better. All part of the journey I guess. I know I'm strong but it sure would be nice to be able to just coast thru sometime.

rockerwife...where did you get those beanies?

i never got a wig, and so far i only have 1 comfy hat...its a knit winter type and man...its getting warm!!

Hi, I am a real newbie... diagnosed with BC about 2 weeks ago... surgery was set for May 22, but now is cancelled due to a PET scan that shows a tumor in my liver also. They want to start me right away with chemo... I will go shortly for a liver biopsy to determine what kind I need. My BC is grade 3, HER2 + I know nothing about anything... a new journey for me. I was pretty bummed out this morning when they told me about the changes and my liver, but now I am ready to go and you all give me great encouragement. I'm already crocheting a hat for after I start. I do fear the nausea. Not sure how I will do with that. Don't know yet what they will prescribe for me. I'm in FL right now and want to go home to NYS for the summer... not sure how that will work with the chemo. I like my doctors here but have a chance to go to Sloane Kettering... Is it a good idea to go to a big well known place for a second opinion, or just to go forward as is. I will stay here in FL until I get a complete plan in place. (I like plans, but looks like it's hard with this... things change from day to day.)

So sorry you had to join this group but you really have come to the right place for a wealth of information and lots of support from so many wonderful woman. I do believe in 2nd opinions especially when it comes to the big C! Like you said, get your plan in place and go from there. I did not go to Sloan Kettering but do go Columbia Presbyterian in NYC for my tx. One of my biggest fears was also the nausea but I have to say the med they give do help tremendously so I do get through it. Hopefully you s/e will be slight to none...... Keep us posted and ask any and all questions as you will get the best answers here. I have learned so much here. Best of luck to you!
