Pity party day - I went to LiveStrong at the Y today for the beginner's aerobics class!! I may need the remedial class............but I am sure I entertained everyone. I'll give it go tomorrow
But it is a ton of fun. I'll let you know what the scale reports. -
You go Beachy

-
LOL Beach, I'll be you could still run circles around me right now. I'm all frozen up lately. But you inspire me! Thanks for the progress report!

-
RaiderGirl - I had one of those parties just the other day! Don't worry, so many of us are dealing with the weight issue, could be meds or maybe because our activity level has changed. I have seen a dietitian and with me it is mostly portion size. I also am less active. Just eating lean meat and fruits and veg. is a good lifestyle change, and healthier for us in the long term. I have just started but always did eat more that way.
If you need to have a snack, air-popped popcorn that is already done you can get at the grocery and it is really low calorie. My husband makes me a yogurt snack with 2% Greek yogurt, protein powder, a little sugar and frozen berries. It is really good! At this point I have no choice but to lose some weight, so I am always looking for good ideas.
The hardest part is patience. It will take time to lose the weight and it is frustrating, but doable. Just hang in there!

Hi,
Have you heard of
Whole 30? It's whole foods, fruit included! No beans or rice, but potatoes are a go! There is a book out called It Starts With Food that will giive you the info, and ere are plenty of websites and Facebook groups, too...
Good luck!

I went to my survivorship class tonight, and I was told that women breast cancer patients gain on the average of 7 to 10 pounds during treatment. I would have been happy to be average. But no I have to be a high achiever and gain 25 pounds. Great time to be above average! But I lost 2 pounds, and I went to Yoga tonight. Not only is cancer a full time job going through treatment, trying to heal and repair is a full time job as well! Crappy side-a-f&*k!

I know. I feel the same way as pants no longer fit. I really hate the weight gain
-
Did the all fruit day again yesterday-focused on 80% watermelon-down 3.4 pounds in one day. That is the third day I have done this-not consecutive, and have lost every time. And major pounds too for one day. Definitely something to this. Today I am doing an all veggie day. Going to the beach Saturday for a long weekend so trying to slim up a little. I am back pretty comfortably in my size 10's, which makes me happy. Had two different people tell me this week that I look "fresh and healthy" in the face. Looking forward to getting some sun this weekend-it has pretty much been one year and a half since I have been in the sun due to all the treatment-chemo, rads. Got my pail for walks and seashelling, feeling excited

-
Hi Ladies, I am pretty sure I will be able to drop pounds at the Y and LiveStrong. I rode the bike 5 miles, it's a start. The yoga class is awesome also. That and I should get it going faster by going to work. I got my new job
Huge relief! Now for that psych consult...........lol. -
Yeah Beach-sounds like you are headed in the right direction for sure. Good for you on all the exercise. And congrats on the new job.
-
vettegirl, what fruits and veggies are you eating for that loss? I want to try that. Do you do it weekly? Thanks!!
-
Beach-The real full diet/detox is called the 7 day detox diet by gm (general motors)-if you google you can see the whole diet spelled out day by day if you are interested. I am doing my own version as I saw the most weight loss out of the first three days of the original diet. I am going to try to do weekly-at least an all fruit day followed by an all veggie day. On fruit day-you can have any fruit but bananas-but it says if you focus mainly on watermelon-you will see the most weight loss-3 to 5 pounds in that day. I have done three days of fruit days so far-and have lost over 3 pounds each time. It definitely works. If you plan and get everything to the house-it is easy. I also incorportae my nutri blend bullet into and make all fruit shakes-strawberries, blueberries, pears, apples, raspberruies, blackberries, oranges-whatever you like. The veggie day starts with a baked potatoe and butter. You then eat all the veggies you want but no more potaotes. I focus on a big salad for lunch and sometimes dinner too. And added steamed brocolli-frozen spinach, yesterday-I made yellow squash-those types of veggies. I also drink a lot of water and pretty much nothing else all day but my pot of cofee in the moring with almond milk. It definitely works. I see a big difference mostly in my belly. I like the diets that are quick and show instant results-keeps me motivated. I will be using this diet forever now that I found it. It has been the only diet that has worked for me since diagnosis and it is healthy. Pretty much like going vegetarian a couple or few dyas a week. And I am not hungry on it-as you can pretty much graze all day

-
vettegirl, Thank you so much! I am going to get going and give this some serious testing also. I hope I have great results as well. Have a great Holiday! Cheryl
-
Holy you know what. I had my drivers license renew picture it was awful. I need to lose weight my face is so puffy.
-
You can do it Beach-it is actually really easy and doable. I am headed to the beach today until late Monday. Hope to get some good walking in. My two foot surgeries have me gimpy but I am going to push myself. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend

-
Have fun, Vette!
-
Today's update, I went to spin class this morning and 18.2 miles later I was done!!! Tuesday is LiveStrong day, and Tuesday night is Yoga. I'm also eating all fruit today, and tomorrow is all veggie day. Yesterday I biked a 5k. And I have a lot of energy today. I hope I have a weight loss when I hit the scale, but I will let you know. I am up to an average of 5000 steps per day also. Thanks for all the cheering! I couldn't do it without all of you. My pedometer really helps to motivate me, so glad I got one from the cancer center. Cheryl

Beach, you go girl! Hope you feel good too!

Hey ladies,
Im back. DH and I had a little business plus fun trip ( Prague, Bologna, Rome). Lovely but I was horrified when I saw the pics. Shit on a cracker I look frumpy. So, first day back I started the only thing that works for me and that is South Beach Diet. Two days on and I have lost 2 lbs. Last time I did this I lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks and then 1+ lbs a week therafter.
I hate my body like this. I already feel it betrayed me with the bc so I dont need to add more to the misery.
My MIL just keeps saying that moderation is the only answer and I am setting myself for failure. I asked if it works for her ( she is very, very overweight) I got the stink eye
-
RG! Did you have fun? I've never done a strict diet .. probably should!
Beach, glad you're doing so well! You sound in such good spirits!
-
Beach-oh my goodness-you are really on a roll. You go girl. Keep us posted. You have got to lose doing all that

-
RG, Hope you had a good time. We missed you.
Beach, you are making us all look like slackers!!! I just got back from a holiday weekend and need to get back to working our and curbing the calories.
MsP
-
Slackers, never! I joined LiveStrong to try to lose the 30 pounds of chemo fat, yep 30! I am so glad my MO did not want me to lose weight But no answer on how to lose it of course. I guess weight gain is not a side effect either. I go to Yoga at the Cancer Center just for me, and I love it so relaxing. But I can't fit in any of my summer clothes, and yoga pants only stretch so far, sorry I know you can't unsee that visual. Thank goodness I am tall and started this shit at 135 pounds.
I lost 4 pounds so far on the GM diet. Easy to do, I have two more days then I'm going for the beef! Cheryl
-
Yeah Beach-glad you like the GM diet. It seriously is one of the easist I have ever done. I am doing an all fruit day today. Got a tub of watermelon ready. Gained back 4 pounds over the long weekend with my beach trip..so first is to get that back off...and then try for some more. Have a full week of beach vacation in about 6 weeks and will see tons of friends I havent seen in a year so definitely motivated.
-
Got my four pounds back off yesterday doing all fruit with 80% being watermelon. Yippee
Going to do mostly veggies today with a small amount of fruit. Will be on the road part of the day and want to do my Spinach, kale, strawberries, blueberries nutri blend smoothie this morning. I do one of these almost every morning for meal replacement. Make me full, give me energy and very good for us. Yesterday was an all fruit day but I did put a small amount of spinach in the bottom of my smoothie in the morning-otherwise-it was all fruit all day. -
That's great, Vette! And a lot of weight loss for one day. On the days where you do this, how do you get your protein, if you don't mind my asking? Or is nutri-blend a mix of some kind? I dont' know much about this type of thing .. but I'm interested. Do you take any vitamins?
-
Kitty-The nutri blend is the nutri blend bullet-it is like an extractor/juicer....you load all your fruits/veggies in the cup with a little water and let it blend-turns into a smoothie type shake. I got it this past Christmas-they were on sale everywhere. Love it. I drink one every morning for my breakfast-give you lots of energy and very good for us. I do take vitamins-a multi, B12, C and D3. I guess on my all fruit days-I dont get much protein-unless I put spinach in my smoothie, which I do some. I do an all fruit day about once a week. The front part of the gm diet is mostly eating like a vegeterian for a few days-so we get our protein through different veggies like spinach. I eat chicken and fish through the week too though and on weekends I eat red meat-Saturday night is steak night at my house
The mix of not eating meat everyday helps me to keep weight off. -
Kitty I did have fun, this trip was suppose to be a few days of fun squeezed in before business. Turned out that business took up less time and we had more our time.
I was a bit freaked about fatigue ruining everything or worse, embarrassing myself in around business associates. But everything went well. DH was so very attentive. He really is my body guard.
As for the weight. Its day 8 and 4.8 lbs are gone. It will slow down to 1 or 2 a week, maybe less but it feels good to begin.
-
Raidergirl, I will take slow and steady weight loss, I just want to lose it. I went to the Y this morning and biked 10.25 miles. Then walked another 7,100 steps. But still slow to drop the pounds. One day at a time, we keep going until we lose it. We got this!
-
Thanks for explaining all of that, Vette.
Good for you, RG! Glad you enjoyed it, too.
Beach, not sure I would have the strength, but you're really doing great!
