How soon is your first mammo done
My RO said since they found it in February I will get next mammo done then. That seems too long. Any thoughts

My first mammo was 1 year after DX.
-
Surgeon said to schedule the first post-op mammo (bilateral) a year from the recall mammo + U/S., (which put me back on my pre-diagnosis mammo schedule).
-
Mine was 6 months after finishing Rads.
-
mine is scheduled in September. That's about 6 months post rads and one year post surgery.
-
Mine is Tomorrow. One year and 6 months since original diagnosis, finished Chemo 13 months ago, finished rads 8 months ago....last surgery 2.5 weeks ago.....major exchange with lat flap Dec 29.
-
Scheduled for 6 1/2 months after I finished RADs, will be 11 months from my original diagnosis.
-
Mine is going to be 6 months after diagnosis. Wonder what the difference in protocol is based on?
-
Radiation makes a difference from what I've been told. They do not want to do a mammo if you've just completed RADS. It will light up like a Xmas tree. It takes awhile for the radiation to leave your system making a mammo too soon after RADS pretty worthless. At least that is my understanding. My doctor wants a look as soon as possible and that apparently is 6 months post RADS.

mine was 6 months after uni mastectomy. That could be because I do have calcifications on that side. Had it biopsied prior to the mastectomy on the other side but they are going to watch it very closely. Also, since I had a lift on that side, they said the next one will actually be a new baseline one for ongoing. Now, it will probably kick out every time due to scar tissue from the lift, even if other things are ok. The gift that just keeps on giving.

Mine was 1 year after original biopsy and about 7 months after completing radiation. My BS said the breast needed time to heal.
-
hmmm I have a diagnostic mammo and ultrasound scheduled for next month. This is 3 months after rads, but a year since diagnosis? Am I going to light up like a Christmas tree?

I don't know, but that's what I was told when I asked why wait so long. I have to travel quite a ways to my breast center and asked why I couldn't have the post surgery mammo done when I was there already, but they said I have to wait at least 6 months after finishing RADS or that Xmas tree thing!
Sometimes I wonder about our doctors. You read so many things on here and it seems different doctors tell us all different things. Some days I'm pretty sure they make it up as they go along!

My RO is making me have a mammo 4 weeks after surgery before I start RADs. I don't know why yet.
