    Wow!! Thanks for sharing your Ragnar experience, Rseman. I am so inspired by your perseverance and tenacity - even after a bad run you keep moving forward and find joy in the end! I'm going to try to hang on to that image as I prep for next weekend's race. And HockeyCat, a race in the Happiest Place on Earth AND a Tinkerbell medal? Beautiful!

    I'm getting excited for next weekend, but not optimistic. I've had pain in my pelvis/groin for several months that, for a while, felt better with running and yoga. Lately it's getting worse, and my recent 5-miler was so bad I almost gave up. PCP and MO are convinced this is "not a thing" but refuse tests or scans, want me to try a chiropractor and PT first. Will work on that after the race. I hate that it's interfering with my road time! I'll post a pic next weekend

    Rseman, all I can say is WOW!  Thanks so much for sharing your experience--so motivating!  I'm in awe of all you half and marathon runners out here.  I wish I had started running earlier when I had younger, healthier joints,etc.  Even after running for seven years, I still feel like I'm going to die if I run much over six.  I can't even imagine doing a half.  You are all so strong and inspirational. 

    Once, can you please add a race for me - Briggs & Al's Run 8K, Sept. 19th

    3 mile jog today, Race for the Cure tomorrow....not sure I'm a pink believer but my work put together a team in my honor.....so there ya go! Day 8 since last AC..I'll be slogging not jogging! This stuff sure is cumulative!

    Hockeycat- Congrats!! Im glad you had fun :):) i LOVE runDisney events!! and just so ya know.. avengers is still open :p

    Rseman- Ive been thinking about do a ragnar .. not sure tho .. but the experience seems worth it

    Panthrah- I am addicted!! I hope we get to do another Ragnar soon. Maybe the Adirondacks in Sept :))) I def think the people I did it with made the experience great too.

    I am in my second week of training for the NYC marathon!! And next month the NY State Park Summer run series starts and I will have a race every Monday night. That fits in perfectly with the training.

    I also just got a Garmin GPS watch that I am so excited to use! Although I'm having problems connecting it to my Mac. Anyone have this problem?

    How did the Race for a Cure go Littleblue?

    Rseman, I have a Garmin 620 and use a Mac. Do you have the Garmin Express app working?

    Thanks ladies! Panthrah, my friend and I are planning for another half marathon in October or November. We might do Avengers. :) need to decide soon before it's sold out.

    Rseman, I have Garmin Forerunner 220, upload the data to iPhone Garmin Connect app via Bluetooth.

    I finally watched the Avengers: Age of Ultron last night. I love Marvel super heroes movie and runDisney event, but it's expensive! Half marathon for $230... The whole experience is amazing. I will need to convince my friend/running partner. :)

    Awesome race reports and pictures Rseman and HockeyCat :) I think participating in a Ragnar has just been added to my running bucket list!

    Rseman - When do your NY State Park Runs start and end? I was thinking of adding one entry for all of them if there are a lot, its definitively something that should be tracked with the rest of our races.

    HockeyCat - I haven't read "What I Talk About when I Talk About Running" but it's now on my book list for Christmas if I don't end up picking it up sooner.

    meljo614 and littleblueflowers - I've added your races to the list.

    I too use a Garmin and I love it but I rarely upload my data to my Mac so I'm not much help in that department. I still track using an old school notebook.

    At this point I'm as trained for my half as I'm going to be. Its the first time that I've only worked up to 15k in my training and it has been very sporatic. I have to say that my runs have been feeling good lately even though it's been really hot the last few days. I'm thankful that the forecast is projecting cooler weather on Sunday. My goal for this race is to finish without injuring myself and to stay below the Disney cut off pace. As far as I know this race does not have a pace minimum but I still want some sort of goal for myself.

    I barely do the disney cut off pace.. but im grapvine-ing.. high fiving everyone.. skipping.. singing and dancing and motivating people to keep moving :p

    whoo hoo ThePrincess! Any distance is good distance while on chemo.

    panthrah - even when I'm trying for a time goal, I always make time to move it and grove it and it give high fives. I know I'm not wining the race or even age groups so I might as well have fun while I'm challenging myself :)

    Training for the marathon has just begun and so far so good but hey I'm only up to 6 miles!! I start training with the team June 13. So I will have races on Monday nights, training in NYC on Tues and Thurs nights, and then my long runs in NYC on Sat mornings. It is going to be quite the schedule.

    Here are my races:

    6/15- Heckscher State Park; 5 miles

    6/22- Sunken Meadow State Park; 10k

    6/29- Belmont Lake State Park; 5k

    7/6- Bethpage State Park; 5k

    7/13- Hempstead Lake State Park; 4k

    7/20- Caumsett State Park; 5k

    7/27- Robert Moses State Park; 5k

    8/3- Jones Beach State Park; 5 miles

    I think I am already addicted to my Garmin. I love that it has a virtual pacer on it and I am convinced although I know this will never happen that it will help me train to qualify for the Boston Marathon!! hahahah I bet everyone says that by the way. I'm 37 so I would have to run 8:23 minute miles the entire race. Right now I am at 9:32 10k pace. But hey it's a goal. I'll be thrilled if I finish under 4 hours actually.

    Yesterday, I was so overcome by anxiety that the only thing I could look forward to was burning it off with a run. 5 miles later and I was feeling so much better. I feel so fortunate that I am able to do this!

    If any of you ladies ran or jogged during chemo and experienced increased foot blistering, is there anything special you did to prevent or treat them? Seems like I am incredibly prone to blisters right now...just finished my last AC and moving on to taxol in 2 weeks..thanks for any ideas!

    completed my 10k race for Bluenose. It was hard but a lot of fun. I didn't really train for it so we walked some but, we got out there and did it.

    The group of girls I run with have decided to train for a half in the fall. We usually do 2 or 3 half a each year so I'm going to attempt the training. It's our base training. I think this will be # 15.

    I've just started chemo and had a couple of rough days but did get out for a run today. We are giving ourselves a couple extra weeks to train in case I need to take a break. Which means training begins next Sunday! Excited. To feel a little in control.

    My first 10k is under my belt!! The Madison was *amazing* - a very hilly twilight 10k. I was so pumped full of adrenaline I completed my first mile in 10:30 flat. Second mile started off the same but then came The Monster - a giant, twisting, steep incline hill that took me right down. I tanked at mile 4 but instead of giving in I remembered how challenging AC chemo was, and reminded myself that if I could do that, I could finish this race! Final time was 1:18 - not what I wanted but I'm still here to run so every step is a blessing. My DH and his daughter did the Madison half today. Post-race recovery beer:

    Congrats Jenga60 and NancyHB on finishing your races :)

    littleblueflowers - I didn't developed blisters when running while on chemo but I did catch hand, mouth and foot disease which caused blisters on my feet while on Herceptin. Have you tried Body Glide on the spots where you get blisters? That might help reduce the friction and help with the blisters. If your blisters are on your toes or between them, toe socks work wonders for me. Just a few thoughts.

    I finished my half last weekend in a time of 2:45 and change. I know I had said that I would not care what time I got and that I was doing it so not to get injured but my competitive streak came out and I wish I would have had a faster time. Overall the race was great. I ended up running with friends that I had not seen in a long time. I found out they were running at the last minute. I started out with two friend, then one friend went ahead and I ran about 10k with my other friend. At about the half way mark, I was feeling pretty good so I took off and caught with my friend who had taken off earlier at about the 17k mark. We finished together. The entertainment along the course was great this year and there were people with hoses and misters at most of the water stations and they had two sponge stations. That being said, I was very thankful for those, it was a hot and muggy day which I sure played a part on how I felt throughout the run. Now I have to start training for my next half in September.

    Hey, just been lurking, not posting much lately. Finished my 1/2 marathon last weekend - so much fun. Boston is such a great city to run thru. A little disappointed with my time but I think we all always are after the fact! I was a little faster last year, but next year will be better! Finished 9th in my division (F60-69) and I believe there were 32 of us. So it's nice to come in in the top 10.

    Congratulations, all, on your races and runs, especially those running thru treatments. Who's stronger than us?????

    Marie11—is this your first full?

    Jenga60-Chaffing was an issue on my breast cars and bra. I use cream now the worst is the underarm for me.

    Tapanga—Congratulations on your 30 minutes of running! That is awesome!

    Oncearunner… Congratulations on being clear to run. Since chemo/rads I have to take water. For my first half this year I trained with a cambak 70oz vest. I really like it. I also have a cambak fanny pack that holds 50 oz. I like the vest better, but in the hot sun I feel my back heats up.

    Rseman you enthusiasm is so catching! Way to go on your runs! I love your race schedule.

    goldlining-you are really making me want to run Disney.

    SunnySydeUp…Congratultions are your first 5k. It will keep you going.

    NancyHB Congratulations on your first 10K! Don't worry about your pace, you are a new Nancy pace will come in time. I struggle with it so much, but gave up on it. You are faster then the people on the couch.

    trailrose Have you done any trail runs? I'm thinking of doing those.

    littlebluef…You are still a runner! Welcome! I ran during chemo, you can do it. A mile is mile I believed it help with the fight.

    QueenAzaz- I can't help with the boob question. But as a big breasted girl, I would suggest the Enell sports bra.

    ThePrincess…You should try the kettleball swing challenge. I loved it didn't bother the port that much.

    HockeyCat-Congratulations! I want your times! OMG! That is awesome!

    I want to thank this group for supporting each other. After my half marathon I had not posted much, because I got somewhat depressed. I was sick before I ran the half with bronchitis and sick afterward, but I was not going to let it keep me from running. I took two months off and I'm back in the training. Thank you for your support. I did not get on the sweeper van and two people hug me after the race, because they felt like quitting, but my sign kept them going. I had a goal to finish under 3:15. I didn't make it because the last 3 miles there was no water in Moab, Utah with direct sun it killed me. I actually walked the last 2.7 miles and ran across the finish line. Three people collapsed before me during the race. I finished with 3:18.02 .Here is to more runs in the future ladies!

    fairydogmother-love the sign and your positive attitude; well done!

    I have not tried water exercise yet because there is not a pool nearby but I am working with my PT to get this bursitis pain under control, stretch what needs to be stretched and strengthen what needs to be strengthened. Then I can slowly build my run back up. I have never been fast but I am faster than I was when I was sitting on the couch. In a few more weeks, the lake will be warm enough and I can hit the water...

    Oncearunner, I've started reading "What makes Olga Run?" Amazing lady who started running in her 70s and still running! Thank you for introducing me to this book.

    FairDogMother, I agreed this group of ladies are so supportive, and I love how we do virtual "high five" :)

    FairyDogMother- I'm happy to hear you're getting back into it. The sign you made must of been so encouraging and inspiring to others! That race in Moab, Utah must of been so difficult due to that scorching heat. But, still you finished and so close to your goal. I am cleared to resume my trail running in 2 weeks since I had my exchange surgery on May 1st. I'm so excited! In the meantime I fast hike to try to keep some form of my fitness level in check. I prefer trail running as it's not so punishing on my joints like pavement and the woods are so magical!
