Did you see that story and the cautionary tale about the importance of a second opinion in People Magazine latest issue?I think it's an important read. Famous actress or not, Breast Cancer hits and hurts all of us .
-
Yes, and had I not gotten/insisted on a second and third opinion and gone with my first GP's dx that "this feels like normal breast tissue" I would be in a completely different place today...if I were still here.

Cancer has its surprise, sometimes. I am vegetarian and very concerned about my health. Not to mention I am the youngest. No one in my family has cancer; I was diagnosed with it while I was in pre-med.
- Talking about people at risk, the following steps below can reduce the risks:
- Avoid Hormone therapy for menopause symptoms
- Practice Prolonged Breastfeeding
- Avoid contraceptive containing estrogen
- Maintain a normal weight
- Regular physical exercise
- Adopt a healthy diet
- Avoid alcohol and tobacco use
- Preventive surgery
- Mastectomy
- Prophylactic oophorectomy.
I read the rules, it appears it is not forbidden to refer to a professional source. I have my website, on which I talk about these breast cancer prevention measures one by one, for those of you who want additional information.

I've done all of the above except the MX for my entire life . It doesn't work. Now I find myself at 62 at high risk for BC
-
It is like my case; I have done all blahh blahh to remain healthy, but cancer came at a time when i least expected it. However, we need to admit they surely work for some people. Life is mysterious sometimes. For your case, i would advise you to use mind power; you never know.

type 1 Diabetes, insulin dependent
Hashimotos hypothyroid
Chronic autoimmune pancreatitis and now breast cancer? Need I say more? It's just bad luck is all I can think. This last Diagnosis is just too much for me . I bravely handle so much already. I don't know how I'm going to " fit in" breast cancer

Just had to send (((hugs))) Ddw79!

Ate healthy, was on the pill but with a very low dose of estrogen (and my cancer = 90% estrogen), ate super healthy, 5'6 and weighed 135 pounds, I do not drink or smoke (no alcohol whatsoever), no cancer in my family (everyone seems to have a horseshoe up their behinds lol)
I don't think we can really prevent it - honestly.
I still eat well, still don't drink or smoke, dropped the pill when I was diagnosed and live my life the best way I can - and have a truly happy life.
-
Thanks dear and good luck to you!
