My endocrinologist is going to do a work up with the potential to use Forteo to treat bone loss. Does anyone know if this is strictly a non starter if you have had breast cancer?  Has anyone been given raloxifene to build bone?  I'm ER (-) so I'm not on tamoxifen or AIs. I'm really active and I'm pretty worried about having frail bones now.

My reply here is long delayed but as an FYI, my docs say that Forteo is contraindicated for me because I had radiation as part of BC Tx. Instead, they recommend a SERM (I'm on tamoxifen. For patients w/o a history of BC, they recommend raloxifene).

I just came on to ask about Forteo. I am on Femara and already have had osteoporosis for 5 years. I cannot take biphosphanates. Is there any interaction between AI's and Forteo?

I met with my endo today and am starting Forteo to help with bone loss from Femara, added on to preexisting osteoporosis. Not sure why noone else on here is doing this combo so nervous there might be something my doc is missing. But I am going ahead. If anyone has any info would love to hear it.

Winding, check out the recent research on prolia. It may be a better choice.

My doctor wants me on Forteo due to my severe osteoporosis. I have had breast cancer twice: in 1982 and in 2011 (different breasts) No radiation either time is it safe for me? I am waiting to see a specialist, but thought I would ask here too.
