Breast itching
I finished treatment almost 18 months ago, but I am having terrible itching of my treated breast. Any ideas?

Georgetta, I finished rads about 16months ago and also find my breast quite itchy. I was told this is due to rads and have found that some days is worse than others. The area under my breast seems to be the worst and I try and ignore it!

I get itchy when I get hot or sweaty...I use cornstarch baby powder. It helps some. Glad to know it's "normal"...:(.

Thanks ladies. -
i finished Dec. 8th, and my breast just started itching last week. It is also over to the under arm. I put Eucerin Cream on it, but it does not help. Also, it seems it is from the internal part of the breast... like my skin is not what is itching, but the flesh in the breast... :-(. Drives me nuts

Not sure if this is helpful, but this is about itchiness post mastectomy: http://www.breastcancer.org/treatment/planning/ask...
and itching.
It probably depends on the treatment that you just completed. You may want to look under side effects.
Sorry to hear you are going through this!

alisonpsu, Itching can drive you nuts. Probably an indication of healing, which is good. I vaguely remember itching, but it didn't bother me that much. I'd call the RO office and see what they suggest.

It's been almost two and a half years since I finished radiation and for six months I have been continuously itching in an area above my breast since August. Nothing I have tried seems to help it. My oncologist thinks it might be radiation related. A doctor at my last mammo/sonogram a few days ago referred me to a dermatologist who specializes in itching. I have to call him.

Based on what I read, it seems that immediately after radiation, one must apply cream such as Emu Oil or deep moisturizers such as Burt's Bee Mama Bee Oil to one's breast to keep it supple, to prevent radiation burns and itchiness. Just curious to find out if any of you did any of this at all? -
I also finished radiation 18 months ago and suddenly, developed a scab on my areola beneath my nipple, about the size of a fingerprint. I was afraid that it was Paget's, but found out today from my mammogram & biopsy that it is most likely eczema. My surgeon has referred me to a dermatologist. I do not have a history of any skin disorders. I may try OTC remedies before I go to the dermatologist. The itching is not too bad, I just want the flaky patch to go away.
