I am 63 years old and was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer on my birthday in February 2015. I have had a mastectomy on left breast and am in middle of reconstruction. I have just found out yesterday that I will be having chemo starting by July 1st. I am overwhelmed (again) as the plastic surgeon wants to do implant prior to my starting treatments. I return to work on May 18th and guess what? I found out today that they want to put in a port for the chemo on that date! I have to go with the flow on all of this, it will all work out in the end.

I see i am no the only one at 63. Was diagnosed with DCIS, I know to many this does not mean much and i also know what a terrible disease this is no matter what stage. I had just lost my sister to Ca. (2 primary) Ca of the stomach-- the stomach was removed completely - and cancer of the ovaries. So for 3 1/2 years i watched her go from 160 lbs to 90. After she became an angel i decided to go do my mamo and there it was DCIS- Had lump, radiation, and now als.. I also decided to get a hysterectomy even though i was braca -. So when we see DCIS as a Diagnosis we cannot automaticlly thinks just just DCIS. My hysterectomy will be on the 19th. Prayers are always welcome. hugs to you all
