Raidergirl .. I feel your pain. When I recently went to San Diego, I looked like a blimp next to my gorgeous DIL. I'm still the same size, but my clothes are tight and uncomfortable. Since the 15th is only 9 days away, you could go on a starvation diet until then or just pack comfortable clothes for the trip. I've had to switch from form fitting shirts to shirts that are a little looser around the middle so my belly and back fat don't show.I hope in spite of the demon scale, you are still able to enjoy your trip.

Kind words, thank you. I will enjoy my trip. I have never been to Prague and I am looking forward to it.
I look ok in the few new things I have purchased but I don't look like me and I dread comments. Only select colleagues know of the dx so most wont know why.
After this trip, there are no birthdays, anniversaries, trade shows, vacations. I am going to absolutely buckle down. There is a huge trade show in November in Vegas that the same colleagues will attend. It would be sooooooo nice to be closer to goal weight.
Is there a patron saint for fat or should I just go to St Jude , patron saint of hopeless causes?
-
RG-I am sure you are still very beautiful. I think we are our own worst critics. Quite honestly-we have been through a lot and if we are not quite up to par-so be it. We can only do the best we can. Enjoy your trip friend

I just had another surgery last Thursday-number 6 in 16 months-so I am once again in the UGH stage. I am in a binder through my whole abdomen-very tight binder-and I am bruised to high heaven-all sorts of pretty colors. So-once again-my weight is all screwed up-but at this point-I dont know which is swelling, which is fat-LOL
I do know that I really really liked that 7 day detox i did a few weeks ago and will do 3 days of it again next week starting Monday. Monday will be all fruit except bananas. Tuesday-veggies only. Weds-fruit and veggies only. I think I will do this every 2 weeks or so. I lost 6.5 pounds in three days doing this and noticed my belly was quite a bit flatter...could even get in my size 10 comfortablly. I highly recommend this for quick and not too hard weight loss...it does work if you follow it-and to me, was easy as I love fruits and veggies anyway.
-
SpecialK, I thought you might be in the medical profession in some way or the other, because of all the diet and statistics you know about.
Bren, I'm with you on the looser shirts. I have so many tighter fitting V-neck t's and things that just don't look right on me anymore! Way too tight around the middle and I have smaller shoulders (smaller frame, really), so the extra weight sucks. And I am harder to fit now! I could stand to lose 20-25 lbs. EASY. But it isn't easy.
RG, I am sure you are still beautiful, both on the inside and outside. Your posts always make me smile!
Vettegirl, YOU are very inspiring. You go, girl. Sorry I haven't been here long enough, or sometimes read through all of the posts to keep up with everything everybody has been through.
But the support here is amazing.
-
Hi Gals,Vettegirl ... hoping you're recovering well today!
Kittysister ... I'm still working on losing another 10 lbs. But I'm lousy at dieting so it takes me forever. You'd think with summer just around the corner, I'd do something about being able to fit into my shorts! I have a pretty sturdy frame and am proportioned okay, so a size 12 looks fine on me. I just need to lose enough so my close aren't so tight.
hugs to all

Kittysister
I am beautiful. Just MORE beautiful lately. lol
Actually I don,t think that a size 12 is reason to jump off a cliff. Its just that my clothes ( the good stuff) are 8 and 10s. I just may have to burn everything and re-adjust.
Breen- a dress ought to be tight enough to show that you are a woman but loose enough to show that you're a lady."Marylyn Monroe"
At the moment my cocktail dress makes me look like a hoochie-mama.
-
Thanks Kittysister and bren-I have actually been a bad, bad girl this week. Been eating way off the diet and even drinking some. I just got home from the store with wine and veggie tray, hummus, pita chips-that kind of snacks...my neighbor is coming over after work for a glass of wine. Its just been one of "those" weeks. But hey-I am back in gear on Monday-seriously. and anyways-the dr has be all bound up in this tight binder so no clothes fit right now anyways. I just got back from buying a Spanx compression-I think that will be lighter and easier. And I can use that even after.
hey-thats an idea for us-Spanx

have a great weekend ladies

-
The Assets line by Spanx is 25% off at Kohls right now-plus another 20% coupon in paper-plus they are giving Kohl's bucks right now-so quite the deal.
-
Vettegirl ... awesome job on the Spanx. I love finding a good deal, plus having coupons, etc. What the hell ... I just love shopping!

Hello ladies! I have been following along. and working hard to get off the extra 10 lbs I have gained over the winter. It doesn't help that I had a burrito for dinner last night...well 1/4 of a burito (They make the portions so huge these days!) But I am down almost a pound so far and I will take it.
I love shapewear but the type I prefer is a one piece, hook crotch that you can wear with your own bra. I like smoothing out my "wobbly parts". Years ago, I was shopping with my daughter and 3 year old grandson and both he and I had to go to the bathroom. So off we went. When it was my turn, I asked him to please turn his head and he complied until I stood up to re-hook my garment. He asked, "Gramma, are you wearing a diaper?" Laughed so hard, I almost had to go to the bathroom again.

Hilarious, MsP!
Vette, I have one Spanx that only goes to the waist. Got it at Kohl's. I just can't force myself to wear it, though. It has wide straps that go beside of the bra straps (or over?) and is supposed to smooth out the back and upper tummy. It was too hot for me and not comfy. You never know, until you wear it a while. It seemed ok in the store.
-
Kitty-I am not crazy about them either. Beats the binder from the hospital though as it is not thick. I am sweating like crazy too. I actually have not been wearing neither the last two days. I had to drive 4 hours yesterday and could not see myself so uncomfortable in that thing...ugh...so I ditched it. I am two weeks out of surgery today so maybe its okay to not wear all the time-I will put the Spanx one back on soon...maybe.
So-as I said I am two weeks out of surgery today-and yep-all that 11 pounds I lost last month-I found them...ugh. So yesterday I did the all fruit only day-and I kid you not-saw a 7 pound difference on the scale today-Woohoo
Yes-you are reading that right-a SEVEN pound difference since yesterday morning-in one day-eating nothing but fruit, with 80% of it being watermelon. Today I am doing the all veggie day and am doing fine so far. I really do think I will do this every week-or most weeks anyways-it WORKS!!! I am headed back to Aldis later today to load up on their fabulous fruit and veggies. I have 8 weeks until vacation-and am going to the beach for a long weekend for Memorial so am motivated. -
Vettegirl .. so proud of you! Way to go ... sounds like you're losing some water weight too. I still haven't found my motivation and discipline. I suck. And I'm still eating jelly beans.hugs
Bren
PS ... I've never worn shapewear. I think I had a girdle when I was really young and didn't need it!
-
RG, there's more of me to love too! lol
Vettegirl, you have the will power, girl. I could learn a lot from you.
MsP and Bren, I was a sight just trying to get into the Spanx! It was a struggle, all right!
-
Kittysister ... do you remember control-top pantyhose? Damn those things were uncomfortable, but I wore them all the time. -
Yes, Bren, I remember wearing a girdle when I was young. 5'10" weighed 125 lbs. Really? A girdle?? We didn't have pantyhose, so we wore garter belts or girdles to have hooks for our nylon stockings. It was all so gross and so unnecessary.
I like shapewear to smooth out the wobbly parts. I buy them larger than my normal size so I don't break my fingernails putting them on. HaHa.
MsP
-
I sure do remember the control top panty hose AND the girdles and garter belts! (those were before they came out with panty hose). Anyway, they were all awful! Especially in the summer! Uggggh!
-
Good idea on the size larger, MsP! I'll remember that if I have to go somewhere important - but normally I don't go anywhere important!
-
Thanks Bren and kitty-yes, it must be water weight too. How on earth do you lose 7 pounds in a day??? I actually stepped back on the scale at least 3 times to make sure I wasnt seeing things. Hoping I am down another 2 by morning. Want to get back in Onederland and thats what it will take....it sucks that we even have to worry about crap like weight....ugh!!! Thanks for the support
Back in the day a pair of pantyhose lasted me only one wear-I always ran them. And they never stayed up....glad pantyhose is not so popular anymore. I prefer the bare leg now. So much easier and cooler....
-
kitty sister, I'm trying to do important things without shapewear. That's why I am working out and dieting. We will see how it goes. Ms
-
Vette, mine would run, too. I was lucky if I ever got two wears out of a pair. I had to go to a funeral a couple of months ago, when it was still cold weather. I had to buy queen sized panty hose and even then, they were tight. lol. But they kept sliding down, too. Good thing I didn't have to wear them for a whole day!
MsP, I was walking on the treadmill every night. Need to work on that again and diet. It's hard. I'm happier as a couch potato, but the body isn't.
-
Well Ladies I went to Day 2 at LiveStrong today at my local YMCA. They offer the 12 week program to cancer patients FREE! So I signed up for it and was accepted. Chemo fat be gone! Not all Y's have the program but you can look online and see if it close to you. I love it, so much fun. Hopefully in 12 weeks I'll be able to wear last year's shorts. And the trainer, easy on the eyes but not so easy on the fat! I'll keep you posted.
-
Beach-thanks for the info on the Y. I really want to exercise but with the bad foot from surgery with lyphedema in the leg, and now all the arm and back issues from cancer and surgery...bleh...I can barely walk 5 minutes on the treadmill. I think pushing myself to exercise would help though...maybe in a few more weeks after some more healing from last surgery. Will definitely check into and see if anything is near me. Thanks for the info and good for you getting out there to do that

Down my two pounds from yesterday just eating all veggies only......really happy with this detox diet. It is definitely going to happen in my life every week for 2 to 3 days....it is so good to see something that WORKS!!!
-
I hope you'll let us know how that goes, Beach. I think that sounds like a good thing. The trainer sounds like an added plus! Are there both men and women in the class?
Vettegirl, I hope things improve. For me, it's the joints, especially hips. I know that's when we need exercise, from what I read. But it's hard. I was doing 15-20 minutes on the treadmill every night and had to temporarily stop. I miss that, too.
-
kittysister, we have a group of 12, 1 man with lung cancer and the rest are all breast cancer women. But it makes me move every day, and I do feel better. So I plan on being a member after the 12 weeks are up. Our Y has great pools so I hope to get in the swim soon. I'll let you know if I lose the chemo fat.
-
I did the Livestrong program a while ago - I wish all Y's had it, it is a great program. It is for all types of cancer, co-ed, and they will tailor to anyone's limitations. My location had the twice weekly organized class with a personal trainer, twice a week gentle yoga for cancer survivors, plus as a Livestrong member you have full access to all Y classes and facilities. If you join as a regular member afterward they waive the joining fee also
-
Beachy ... very cool about the Y. I'm so glad you're enjoying it. Swimming is such a fun way to exercise ... hope you're able to get in the pool soon.hugs
Bren
-
Thanks, Beach. I'm going to try to remember to check into what's available in my area, too.
-
Vettigirl, I feel like a LIKE button is necessary for your 7 lb drop in one day from fruit... Way to Go!
-
Thanks Cindy. I love knowing at least something works we can try with all these cancer meds. I am going to the beach for Memorial weekend so will definitely be doing another fruit day or two even this next week. Publix has watermelon cups on sale BOGO this week-so that works out perfect. I think watermelon was why such the big loss-the original gm detox diet says if you eat mostly watermelon on fruit only day-you can lose 3-5 pounds. I love watermelon-works for me
