Has anybody developed an infection from radiation? Also taking day off Friday due to a trip going to ask if I should take off tomorrow due to being umcomfortable

whatever the possible cause, I would get to a doctor before your weekend trip to get this taken care of - yeast infections and uti's can be very painful. personally I doubt there is any relationship between radiation for bc presumably of the upper chest and what you are experiencing - but do get it checked out - why add to your stress? and congratulations for almost being done with your rads.

i don't think that would be from radiation. You might want to see a doctor. If it is a UTI creams will not take care of it. You need pills. Creams are more for yeast infection, and if it is a UTI it will get very uncomfortable and might even cause bleeding. I am not to sure if they have otc pills for UTI. You can ask. But if you are not sure of what it is then a Dr. can clear it out for you, Also a very good idea staying home tomorrow. Good luck.

I had a recurring uti that started about halfway thru rads. While the radiation wasn't the cause, my PCP thought that perhaps after chemo and rads my immune system was a little weakened and maybe a contributing factor. Who knows. Havent had any further issues since completing rads and a stronger antibiotic. UTIS are no fun, feel better.

also adding, if a uti you will need antibiotics so definitely see a doctor. There is also a med to relieve the discomfort before the antibiotics kick in.

Talk to your Dr. Are you drinking cranberry juice? That can help.

thank u. I went to a walk on clinic and the dr gave me a urine test and said I was definitely right and had a moderate UTI and am now on cipro. I hope pills kick in soon. Still not a great deal of relief
