Naughty Lymph Node

It has been just over 3 years since my Stage 3C breast cancer diagnosis and I have a enlarged lymph node in my right axilla area, the opposite side of my previous cancer. I have been feeling "lumpy" and itchy in that spot for a few weeks. So the radiologist has recommended a PET scan. I am seeing my oncologist tomorrow so they can go over the results of the ultrasound. I've been waiting for 3 years for the other shoe to drop and now wondering if this is it.

Geo! hope it's something benign. Keep us informed. I am guessing you kept one side (shoe drop comment). Goo luck my dear! we are rootin' for negative.

Geo--I remember thinking I had an enlarged lymph node on the opposite side during rads, and I was able to see a RO immediately. He said bc does not travel from one side to the other in the lymph nodes. I hope this makes you feel better that it might be very unlikely to be bc

I have a copy of the report and my Dr. is sending me to the surgeon. They found two lesions, the first is 1.4 x 0.7 x 1.2 cm and is situated in the axilla. There is a greater portion of central echogenicity and a thin hypoechoic outer rim. Definite internal flow is not visible. The second one is 1.4 x 0.7x 1.3 shows significantly echogenic portion and a very thin hypoechoic rim. These findings are atypical for a lymph node. Other possibilities will include tumor with high nucleus to cytoplasmic ratio.

    Hi geocachelin,

About the "lumpy and itchy for a few weeks" comment you made, in August of 2013 I had what felt like a bug bite in my left armpit. I could see nothing there but I couldn't wear deodorant for 6 weeks, it burned and itched like crazy, the only thing that helped was Calagel clear itch medicine and I had to apply it a few times a day. I had to put a washcloth inside my clothing to help the itch stop, then it just went away. I am wondering if that's when the cancer went into my lymph node. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks
