Is this really necessary?

I haven't been on the site lately but when I saw this I wanted to add my comments, I too had a very tiny amount of DCIS found inside a Complex Sclerosing Lesion, my surgeon said no radiation but my oncologist said RADS and Tamoxifen. I was so confuse, so when I met with my RO she said I could go either way, so that was even more confusing, so after some research on my part and taking what all three had to say I went with lumpectomy, no RADS and I'm currently taking tamoxifen.
I had a bad start on Tami, with severe joint pain but after a couple of months it got better, it has only been just recently that my joint pain has return. I am going to take a break from the Tami to see if my pain goes away and if it does I may not go back on the Tami. My quality of life on this drug is poor and my risk factor is so low that I'm willing to take that chance.

Well mame I think I'll need your help with this. I glad to hear from someone with faith, not only that your in NC. I'm currently waiting to see the RO and the OC seems to think that I have a lot of options. Like you said I hate it when someone gives me to much information. I like hearing Dr's reading off the same page. I've really been praying that I don't have to have the chemo, I don't like the side effects or the damage that it does to healthy cells. My lymph nodes where negative, I had clear margins around the tissue. The tumor was less than 1cm. I'm really trying to understand. Hope to hear from you soon. Hope all is well

Hi Anthonia, I pray all is well with you, our cases may be different as I had DCIS and for that chemo is not a recommendation as it is non-invasive. Do you have DCIS or invasive cancer? Have you gotten a copy of your pathology report? Yes it can be very nerve racking when doctors are not on the same page and yes my faith in God has gotten me through a lot in life, I would be a mess with out my heavenly father. I pray your treatment goes well for you. (hugs).

Went for mammogram was told they found something that looked like calcium deposite but would have to have a needle biopsy. Turned out had DCIS stage 0. Had surgery to check surrounding tissue.Came back clear. Mine was the kind fed by estrogen an I think they said the grade was high.My mom battled with cancer for 15 yrs.She passed away little over 2 yrs ago.She had the samething I had only hers was stage 2 when found. At first I said no to the radiation. Took brca gene test an it came back I didn't have the gene.I went for a second opinion an decided to have the radiation. Now on tamoxifen. My mom took it also.I fear it coming back because my moms did. First time in same breast.Second time in other breast. Later in her bones, lungs, and I think liver. At the end in her brain.I know my mom was cancer free till some yrs after her tamoxifen treatment for 5 yrs.Guess all I can do is pray for Gods guidance and do what I can to prevent it.

Hi Trina, and welcome to Breascancer.org, where you will find a wealth of knowledge and experience.
While you wait for other members to chime with their personal experiences, knowledge and support, you might like to read the section on DCIS — Ductal Carcinoma In Situ from the main site on Breastcancer.org, where you'll find helpful information about treatments, follow up - care, etc.
Hope this helps!
