Hello ladies! I'm coming up on the two year anniversary of my diagnosis, and I just wanted to throw some encouragement out there to those of you who are just beginning your fight with the cancer bastard. I was scared, angry, exhausted, in pain, and sick during my treatment, but I got through it and so can you. You CAN put this in your rear-view mirror – never lose your faith in that. And there are tons of us out there cheering you on <3

"Survivors are like tea bags, you don't know how strong we are until you put us in hot water."

Hugs & Blessings,

Kelly

Thank you for posting this! I know these forums are helping me get through this first part. Your taking time to let us know it does get better really helps!

Thanks so much for that encouragement Kelly and love the tea bag quote! I also liked what you said about the rear view mirror as this week I'm making a big effort to now start living again!

Freygea, I'm glad you've found the forums here - they were my lifeline all through treatment. Feel free to PM me too if there's anything I can answer for you. This first month after dx is scary and overwhelming - but you'll do it because you have to, and then you'll be on your way to the other side of this experience.

Lauren32, isn't that tea bag quote the best? I can't remember where I read it first, but it's still one of my favorites. How are you healing up after your mx last fall? I had my exchange surgery around the same time...

    Hugs to all!

My DD uses the tea bag quote on her email, it's from Elenore Rosevelt.

Jellk, thank you soooooo much for posting this. I was just DX on 5/1/15. There are so many different emotions, and questions going through my head like why do I have breast cancer at 30. This site has been amazing and helped me get through the past two weeks. Feels like everyone (friends and co worker) have their own opinion about what treatment or Dr's I should see. They ask why your not crying (only so much you can do lol) i really appreciate you posting this; )

I will ditto what jellyk said- you girls will weather this storm. The boards always have great info, you will meet some amazing women and make great friends. There is always an encouraging word that will come forward. This is BY FAR the best site for support and info. I wish you new ones all the best in this rocky beginning phase. Soon you will be on the other side supporting newly dx'd women and counting the years as they go by.

    HUGS to all

I joined in January. I think some people go thru treatment and move on - then there's US, those that have found this site so incredibly helpful, that we cannot leave. No matter where you are on your 'journey', there is always someone here to reach out to. This site is my security blanket, my smile on a bad day, my peace when I feel frightened, my 'no where else to turn' place.

Welcome to all of you. You are not alone - we're here 24/7!

    Thanks, Msphil!!!!!

It's always great to hear of long survival stories from IDC patients...I tend to hear most of them from DCIS patients.

On another note, I have heard some MO's are referring to DCIS as pre-cancer. What gives????
