Kind of Freaking Out

edited May 2015 in Waiting for Test Results

I had a FNB for a complex cyst, a full week ago. It did not resolve the indent, unfortunately. I just called my doctor, to see if the path report is in, and was told...

The nurse at the breast center, who is in charge of that, isn't in today. My doctor's nurse will be calling tomorrow to get the report. My dr will be in another county, and she has already given her nurse instructions to give me the phone number where she can be reached in the other county?

She told me that, and now I am shaking like a leaf. I just want this all over with!!

I know it's hard to get yourself to this point, but if you can - breathe deep, and don't embrace any of the "what if's" running around in your head right now. You won't know what the outcome is until you talk to your doctor. Until then, do what you can to remain calm and fight the anxiety I know you feel (because I felt it too while waiting). Good luck!

Thanks, Bellajenn. I would just like some resolution, no matter what it may be. If it is benign, great!! Let me get back to work, kids, etc. If not, let's get to work getting rid of it!!

Laura E...this is really wierd. My Dr. Is out of the country too. I too just went through a biopsy and was scared to the point I thought my heart would jump out of my throat. The Pathologist and surgeon said to them it 'looked' like a recurrence. They hurried everything pretty fast so I didn't have a long wait. The results were B-9. Fat Necrosis-fibrosis. They said in other words you got a lot of 'junk' in there from past rads.

So I know it's easier said than done......breath, pray, and keep yourself busy. Have a glass of wine. We can't change anything from this point. Let us know your good news ok?

    Hugs, Artsee

Ok. The nurse from the diagnostic center just called. The pathology report states the FNB resulted in an "unsatisfactory specimen". I have no idea what this means, or what happens next?

I was afraid of that. I feel like giving up. I've been mashed, poked, prodded...

I'm sorry you have to go through that again, Laura_E! Hopefully they'll get enough this time and rush the report to you. I'd ask when you can get in to do the next biopsy, to help move things along. Hugs!

Hang in there Laura E....sorry you have to go thru this. Not knowing is bad enough but having a procedure redone really sucks.

    You can do this (((hugs)))

Laura, I so know that feeling but don't give up. Maybe it's nothing at all to be concerned about and this time next year it will be a vague memory. The doctor knows you are worried ... My surgeon gave me her cell phone number that I could text her if need be.

I am hoping someone will call today, and let me know what the next step is. I'd rather not go through another forever long weekend of waiting and wondering. Thank you, so much, for all the support. It means a lot, and is helping me keep my mind grounded in now, not "what ifs".
