Who had DIEP at NOLA with rads after?

While I did not have my surgery at NOLA I did have rads after.  No one seemed phased by this, not my PS, BS or RO.  In fact it seemed pretty commonplace, my RO had assured me she'd radiated DIEP breasts many times before, it would be fine and it was.  NOLA is world renowned and I would trust the surgeon.  I had no major problems whatsoever.  The breast did lift a little but I would have needed a revision surgery to remove some scar tissue anyway and this was corrected at that time.  It was a minor outpatient procedure.  Even before the revision the difference was not noticable wearing a bra and dressed.  I had 28 rads (no boosts) to the breast and superclavical.  My DIEP was skin sparing and everything was and continues to be fine.  I believe it is actually easier to do the DIEP first than try to do it on a radiated breast.  Good luck to you!
