edited June 2015 in Waiting for Test Results

Ok,so about 3 months ago i found a pea size knot in my R breast. Around the end of March i realized that the knot i blew off had in grown in size now @ 3x3.32x1.4cm. Did mammo and u/s radiologist says probably benign, but the facial expressions were not matching up with his words. Saw the oncologist nurse and now i have my biopsy tomorrow. My mammo was BI-RADS 4 with very high density on my R breast. I am 34- 1yr and 7 months post complete and total hystorectomy with only 3 months of HRT. I am nervous, but staying strong. I just do not like the wait for tests and doctors and results, because they said that it could be a week before i hear anything back from pathology. It all has to go through the VA medical site. Yay for waiting...not really. Thanks for listening.

Angeld99 - Welcome to the hardest waiting room ever!! There are several of us right there with you, so you came to the right place for support! I was rated BI-RADS 4 as well. What I found is that it's best not to try and interpret the doctors and other medical professionals and what they think it might be. They really won't know until after your biopsy and get your pathology reports back. I'm in the military side of things, and it did take a week to get the results. Find things to keep yourself occupied (and stay off of Google!). Big hugs!!

hey angeld99 we are close in age, I recently had a benign BIRADS 4. I'm sure given your hysterectomy history they will be being super vigilant with you, may explain the expressions on the radiologists face, they want to feel really good about your scans and one slight doubt they're going to biopsy. I don't know why you had a hysterectomy but from reading these boards I've establiahed that there is a connection between ovarian Cancer and Breast cancer but not womb cancer.. Correct me if I'm wrong! Force yourself to think good thoughts and keep coming here to talk, hugs

bellajen, you are CORRECT! You cannot try and interpret the Med professionals. I've had nothing show on mamo and U.S....but pathologist and surgeon says by their 'eye' it looks like a recurrence. I don't get it. So biopsy was in order to make sure.......Ugh...roller coaster rides....I always hated them.

    Good luck all.....

I am expecting pathology results tomorrow or Friday. The radiologist said I am at least stage 2, based on tumor size. Today I have had chest crushing anxiety. I am sick of waiting and want to move forward with treatment now! I feel your pain.

Thank you ladies for your words of comfort. I have nipple pain but never thought to tell the doctor that or that sometimes my lymph nodes swell in my underarm on the same side. But again thank you for the advice

Angeld99 - You and your thread responses remind me to tell my BS about my nipple issues at my next appointment. Right before my first mammo, I had serious itching issues with a change in the skin texture. It cleared up before my mammo, so I forgot about it. I figured it correlated with a change in my laundry detergent. I will update my BS! thanks!

You are most welcome bellajenn...i have had itching and pain in the nipple but no significant changes in skin texture in the last few months and no changes in clothes or soaps and things. I guess I will let them know maybe today. Hang in there!

Hey, ladies! I just joined the forum and saw this thread.

I had a MRI last week for a nodule and they found a 9cm x 5cm "nonmass enhancement." I am now scheduled for a MRI guided biopsy next week. I am getting a little antsy given the size of the mass. I have had fibrocystic breast for a couple of years now but this seems so different. Doesn't that seem like a large mass? Am I overreacting?

AngelLynn- I had a non mass like enhancement as well on my MRI. That biopsy came back as benign-just fibrocystic. It was just a long string of cysts. My other area was malignant. Good luck!

Angeld99......can't they call you with the results? I'd ask them to that. My surgeon said they will call me when the biopsy results come in.

I ask them too and she says no that her policy regardless of outcome is to meet face to face with the patient. She said that it is not well defined and extremely hard mass, had trouble getting the core needle to go in to draw out the samples and measuring margins. I do not know what that means. It is all confusing and nerve wracking but i am thankful that i found this site to be able to ask questions from all of you.

@angeld99. You hv every right to ask yr doctors office to fax a copy of yr results to you ahead of yr scheduled meeting with yr SO. You pay for medical treatment so it is not up to them to decide when you can see it. Suggest you insist on it.  I did on a few of mine and got them

Well the results are in and it is nodular stromal sclerosis, and was recommended to do an MRI or a lumpectomy to be sure that there is no underlying reason for concern. I chose to have the lumpectomy for peace of mind. I hope PistolMAMA AND Ettabetta HAVE GOOD RESULTS TOO!

So glad to hear that angeld99! I also got b9 results! They are putting me in the high risk program due to the increased risk, but I'm so HAPPY and relieved. Hugs to anyone who didn't get those same results.
