Blondie,
What a beautiful baby and what a beautiful name. What a delight for you.
I have laminate and in-laid throughout my house. Not only due to the animals that are always around ( the dogs are in and out all day ) , but I also realized that carpet ( not that the other is any cleaner per se' ) isn't cleaned nearly as often as other flooring --- so whomever comes in, and no matter where they have been or what they have stepped in -- it comes in as well. Also, if there are allergies, there is just more material on the floor, along with the drapes etc. to hang onto the pollen. I did have a couple people in my family who just wouldn't let anyone walk on their carpets with shoes on -- but I think that was far too disciplined for me --- aside from the animals not wearing shoes to take off when they come in. I have very few curtains and no blinds at all. The curtains are mainly valances on most windows. I do however, for anyone who may be raising their eyebrows just now --- live in the woods by a lake with very, very few neighbors and as a rule people here are fairly relaxed about window coverings.
Now -- next time I'm visiting my neighbors I'm going to have to look and see if they have binoculars. We are all relaxed pretty much out here. It is a wonderful, wonderful thing to be able to live in nature rather than in town. I intend to make it here for as long as possible.
Anne, I hope all goes well at the Dr.'s appt. tomorrow. Hoping you can get back to Fl. exactly when you want too without a problem to be found.
Mommarch -- good for you. You needed that rest. I hope your back on your feet in no time and that you start a really good phase now. Thinking about you.
No rain in sight -- but at some point the weatherman is going to stop being wrong.
Hi to everyone.
Blessings
Jackie

Blondie...what an adorable picture of Maya Rose! She sure won't be hard to spoil! :-)
Mommarch...Doing the happy dance with you that the meds will be covered. Still keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Anne, I think I asked you before but I have forgotten what part of South Florida you are in. Please refresh this feeble memory. I hope your infection is cleared up! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Chevy...I think I've read all of Danielle Steele's books, too. Pegasus is one of her more recent books and I especially liked it.
I loved this sunshine today but spent much of my day inside (after grocery shopping) writing scholastic bowl questions. I hadn't written any this past year but I think it's in my blood and I can use the little extra cash that I get for them. It also helps "work my brain!"
Hope everyone is doing well.
Rita
-
Mommarch, those big fatty ribeyes sound good to me! Sorry you suffered some digestion pain. Good for your dh that he encouraged you to sleep. I think that getting your med and starting the treatment will make you feel better mentally. Or at least I hope that's the case. I always hate waiting once I accept a plan of action.
Jackie, you don't have window coverings on your bedroom windows? We never cover any windows except those in the bedroom at night. We close the mini blinds, which, I know, are out of favor these days but we still have them. They're open during the day.
I played golf at a different golf course today because our two golf courses were booked for a tournament. Afterwards my two friends and I had lunch and it was delicious. Crispy fried catfish, sweet potato fries and coleslaw.
Tomorrow I go to the NP at my PCP's office for a pre surgery clearance. I just learned this afternoon that I needed one and the surgery is next Wed. I'm thinking that I hope the surgeon is more up to speed than his office workers, who should have instructed me to get this clearance a little more in advance.
-
Hi, Rita. You were posting at the same time I was. How clever of you to be able to write those questions.
Blondie, I forgot to say what a pretty name that is, Maya Rose. And a sweet baby.
-
Carole, I have a valance at the top of my bedroom windows and a café type ( they are fairly thin ) on the bottom. It's pretty dark in the woods though there is a dusk to dawn light out back -- but when I do wake up --- there is just enough light for me to get to the half bath. I could have nothing, but I wanted something ( just under-played ) for appearance sake mainly. I wanted my bedroom to be just a little girlified. Don't know that it came out that well, but it makes me happy.
I also have my bedroom painted yellow --- so I can wake up to sunshine everyday.
Jackie
-
Jackie, I love yellow, too. I painted the guest bedroom a sunny yellow.
-
Blondie, nothing is sweeter than a new baby. Maya is gorgeous!

Another lovely day here, but we have had a forest fire not too far away. Around 1,000 acres burned since Sunday . Can't tell if what clouds we see are clouds or smoke from the fire!
We have shutters on the bedroom windows, light curtains or blinds on the others. I close the blinds and shutters when it gets dark, let the sun in i during the day, as we are on a main road. Also have carpet in the dining room, which we rarely use, except for my antique doll collection and Depression glass collection. The bedroom and den have carpet too. Pine floors in the livingroom , hall and kitchen, as we live in a log home.
Was going to lunch with a gal friend but cancelled , my IBSd has been attacking since we got home from our cruise. Had one terribly embarrassing moment at the Bank! I'm afraid to go anyplace. Know where every bathroom in town is and pray every time I get in the car.On vacation always ask if the tour bus has a bathroom. I'm about at the end of my rope in this area. Called the gastro today," try pro-biotics and give me a sample"! there must be something that can deal with this. Especially since we love to travel. Grrrrr!
I read Daniele Steel, Nora Roberts, Jude Deveraux and Debbie Macomber, really enjoy Debbies books.
Jackie, DH and I always enjoy a good laugh with our doctors. My breast surgeon has an attitude, but I got him one day. While I was having rads i found plastic happy face stickers and added them to my boobies for the radiology crew. Forgot to remove them for the surgeons appt. , didn't know how he wud react. Well he broke up, the first time I ever saw him laugh!
Got a couple of bug bites in the house yesterday. I'm thinking maybe a small spider, never felt it, red and they itch. Wish I knew what it was. Around here ticks are a big problem this year , with the cold winter. We have a lot of Lyme in the area. Got a lot of deer , thus the teeny deer ticks that carry Lyme. I did get one, never knew and hadnt been outside a couple of years ago, but got the dreaded red target , so was put on antibiotics. I know this isnt a tick bite, they don't itch.
Have a good night.

Hi all
Getting ready to go to surgeon to see if infection is cleared up. My DD doesn't think so.
Rita, I live in what used to be the southwest tip of Ft Lauderdale, in a little town called Cooper City. I say used to, because even though we haven't moved since we moved in in 1978, civilization has moved westward. We would probably be considered more south central at this point. Up until a few years ago, you had to drive through miles of cow fields to get to Cooper City. They have recently been sold and housing complexes have been built.

Your worth is not measured by what you do. Nor can you calculate the degree of your worthiness by what you possess. Your worth is a function of your being. Your being is colorless, genderless, and believe it or not, ageless. Your being is worthy of honor, admiration, and respect. It is a vessel of love and light. It is a beacon of inspiration. -Iyanla Vanzant

Got a hair cut today, first one in 10 months, with last chemo Sep 18. Here's my pre and post hair photos.
-
Lookin good Puffin! I do think trims or cuts are necessary to give our new hair some shape & style. -
Applause-Applause

You look wonderful. Won't be much longer and you can start having bad hair days again. I thought after going several months without hair that I would never have another "bad" day, and was a little surprised when I did. Still it is more of a joke to me than anything. I've never been too vain, though I do have to admit......I didn't carry off bald nearly as well as some do.I was though VERY glad to have my hair back. I did all my chemo in the middle of winter and it was a really cold one that yr. So, I laugh about the bad hair days that are still wonderful compared to no hair. Good for you Puff, you're on the way in a great way and it really is fantastic.
Jackie
-
Very nice Puffin - wish I could get my hair to look half that good. My hair is so thin and fine, I cannot do anything with it. BC I used to wear a wig because it was so bad. Like Jackie said, after being bald I said I would never complain again - but I do. I hate my hair and always have. I suppose I could load it up with "product" and use a curling iron, but don't want to do that just to go to the grocery store or Walmart. I have always colored my hair, too, and now it is pure white, which everyone says they like, but it is so thin, you can see my scalp at times. Yuck!
I was right about my infection. It is not cleared up. He put me on a different antibiotic that is a huge capsule, and I have to take it 4x a day for two weeks. I was hoping to fly back to Fl Tues to be at my DGS's band concert Tues night, but that isn't going to happen. To do that, I would have to see the Dr Mon, at his downtown Atlanta office and I am just not comfortable driving myself into the middle of Atlanta. Nancy missed three days of work last week, and Scott isn't off till Tues, so neither one can take me (not that Nancy would drive there either!). I booked the ticket for Thurs and will see the Dr at the usual place next Wed.

Puffin, your hair cut looks great!

Blondie....We have a Maya Rose too! Ours is 3 yrs old but it seems like yesterday she was the size of your baby. Your little Maya is adorable!
Mom march.......I've been catching up on all of the posts and am so sorry to see you're fighting the beast again. It sounds like your Dr. Is on top of it, though, and hopefully you'll quickly be on the mend.
Bonnets......I used to suffer from IBS so I feel your pain. Always having to know where the nearest bathroom is.....is no way to live.. Don't know why it went away but I have a feeling it has something to do with the constipating drugs I take now.
We have been on the island of Maui for over a week and thoroughly enjoying 80 degree weather, the warm Pacific ocean, and waay too much good food. We'll be coming home Sat where it's back to the real world for another year.
Hope everyone is having a good evening.
-
Luvmaui, Have a shave ice for me. Enjoy.
-
Looking good, Puffin!
Yesterday I bought a little pattern book of hats and scarves to crochet. I plan to get out all my crochet supplies and have them handy for the week I'll be on crutches. If I create some nice things, I'll use them for gifts to nieces who live in snow country. Chevy, I saw a pattern book with those fancy ruffled scarves you make.
Vacationing in Maui sounds wonderful.
Off to the gym with dh this morning.
-
Thanks everyone, it really is fun to have my hair back.
Anne, sorry about the infection. Goes to show how well we get to know our own bodies and when things are right and when they're not.
Maui sounds heavenly, I loved our birding vacation there.
I went to our monthly support group meeting last night, took my wig stand and all my scarves and gave them to a gal who's in the middle of chemo. Someone might as well get some use out of them this summer.

“The soul is your innermost being. The presence that you are beyond form. The consciousness that you are beyond form, that is the soul. That is who you are in essence.”

Puff, you ( like all of us having lost hair ) just did your metamorphous cycle -- up to being able to give away the things that got you through it. That is such a good part. Just little ceremonies to help attain and maintain the distance of moving beyond into wellness again. It takes quite some time --- to totally get healthy cells going -- along with that full head of hair. Some of the 5 yr. pills have a tendency to keep your hair thinner than it might be otherwise, but as long as you get it back --- the rest should be workable.
Our rain storms will move in some time today. I feel so for the people in Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska, maybe Texas or anywhere in that general area. They have had bad weather will be hanging around for them and have already had tornados with it. Prayers for all there and hoping no more tornados. It is the time of yr. when many have to worry thru the season.
Back later on -- I'm going to work and then the gym afterwards --- since our storms/rain is predicted for late afternoon.
Blessings,
Jackie

I took my first dose of 1000 mg at 8:15 this morning, DH stayed around for awhile to make sure I was going to be ok, so far so good. It will take a few days to build up in my system. I take another 1000 mg tonight after dinner. The cost for 14 days is $4,556. Thank God for Medicare Part B. DH got up at 4:00 AM and I heard furniture being moved, I rolled over, did not even want to know what he was up to. When I got up at 7 he had rearranged the living room, vacuumed, washed dishes and pots and pans. He bought me a rattan and wood rocker for Mothers Day and my Birthday. Its great. Love him.
Hugs hope all are doing as well as they can.
-
Wonderful news Mommarch! What a sweet husband. Yes, I agree, thank God for Medicare! May you continue to do well on the new meds. Prayers for you.Paula

We all have choices to make about the quality of our presence and how we will affect those around us. The quality of our presence is dependent not on what we can or cannot “do” but on the essence of who we are and how we relate to others. Becoming the presence we would like to be is an intentional work. It grows while we make peace with ourselves and with life. -Sallirae Henderson
-
Mommarch, your dh sounds like such a good and lovable man. If the price of a med indicates how good it is, you're taking a good med! Sure do hope it does the trick. Get some use out of that new chair and pamper yourself. Hugs.
-
Well what a day so far. The usual morning chores that help me to wake up good and start appreciating my day. Lots of storm clouds, but they were hanging back and allowing a fair amt. of sun -- so ok
Got my bills done, some food down and then into town to go to the gym. I got started exercising and looking out the window decided I'd run out to my car and get my umbrella. Oh, am I glad I did. We got major pour-down two or three times with normal rain in-between. It is so nice and warm, I didn't care a whit if I got wet, but I hate getting my glasses wet. Slows me down trying to find and get into my locked car.
Then when done, I drove around town and dropped off all the bills I paid before I left. It is great that we have very few bills that actually need mailed. Some people just have the company collect the payment directly from their bank account. I have to use almost all the money each month that is in mine -- so I don't dare have it done that way. If I had to buy extra at the store or cash an extra check for gas --- I'd be bouncing checks all the time and I can't afford that. So, since I have so much that can be turned into my bank or the cable company local office, or the propane office, or the water company office -- it makes as much sense for me to hand carry the checks around. Also, I get to "see" lots of people I like in the individual offices ( always a little pleasant conversation ) so I'm happy.
I think our rain will carry though until sometime on Sunday. Carole -- are you in line for anything. I know some of this is originating in the Texas area.
Hope you are all having a really good day. I'm going to work about 5:30 p.m. tonight. I sort of like getting my week-end day in on Friday. See you all later.
Blessings,
Jackie

There comes a time when you have to stand up and shout: This
is me damn it! I look the way I look, think the way I think, feel
the way I feel, love the way I love! I am a whole complex package.
Take me. . . or leave me. Accept me--or walk away! Do not try
to make me feel like less of a person, just because I don't fit your
idea of who I should be and don't try to change me to fit your mold.
If I need to change, I alone will make that decision. When you are
strong enough to love yourself 100%, good and bad--you will be
amazed at the opportunities that life presents you.Stacey Charter

Good Morning,
Hope your morning is fine. We had a magnificent amt. of rain yesterday/last night and are awaiting more. Those west of us --- Ne, Ok, parts of Texas, and now into some of the even closer states, like La, and Ark, are having to watch closely for tornados' and flooding and I am so hoping that all will be ok. You know it will come every yr. but all the living you have to do beforehand buffers it --- then all of a sudden Spring is here with all those storms. Hope and prayers for anyone who lives in any storm paths and for any of your families.
Will be a quiet day here -- I'm sure more rain and it will continue on and off through tomorrow. It is a bit sultry here, but I'm used to it and feel very little with the fans circulating air. Worked last night so the rest of the week-end is mine. I like getting my work week over a bit early and having not to plan according to a work schedule. Not that I actually work that much -- but this time was thinking more of dodging lighting, thunder, and downpours -- so all is behind me after getting it done last night.
I hope everyone's day goes all right.
Blessings,
Jackie

here in Eastern NC we are waiting for Ana to show up and surfers are eagerly awaiting some decent waves....the downside being serious beach erosion. Wind is picking up a bit and squirrels hanging on to the "squirrel proof "(ha! not) bird feeders as they swing like acrobats in the Cirque du Soleil. Wild bunny and squirrel faced off over seed on the ground.....squirrel won and bunny skedaddled.
Watched the Weather Channel this morning and saw the possible tornado breakouts areas. When Jim Cantore shows up, well..... I hope all who are in the affected areas stay safe from harm.
-
Jackie - I particularly like your thought for today. It would work for overbearing parents or controlling spouses or even friends who try to make us over.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone whether you're celebrating your own Mother or w/your kiddos.
