New DCIS after 4 years feeling helpless
hi everyone!
In 2011 I had my first DCIS I was 32, pregnay, scared and ignorant. I had mastectomy on my left side without reconstruction mainly because I would had to delay the surgery in order to find a PS and since my F/N biopsy didn't mention DCIS I was in a big hurry!
After that I didn't need any further treatment but I was monitored with mri every 6 months plus US or mammogram alternated.
Mri was a constant source of anxiety every time they would see something new but nothing on Us or mammogram.
This April they found a new lesion on my right breast that showed up on US too, I had FN that confirmed cancer (again no mention of DCIS on the FN biopsy report) I went for a mastectomy again without reconstruction, at this point I don't want to put myself through more surgery.
Now I'm much more calmer then my first time but I'm also really sad, I feel a big sense of loss, there is something wrong with me, I'm only 36 and I been here twice what next? Both my DCIS Were grade 3 and hormon negative. I have decided to get a genetic test done and have my ovaries removed too if positive. But it still feel like this is not enough.
Thank you for listening

i am so sorry. I am 62 and was diagnosed with Atypical ductal hyperplasia in December. After a lump ectomy to remove the impact of tissue it was upgraded to DCI S grade 2 to 3. I've continued to have two more lump ectomy's to try to get a clear margin and I'm not there yet. So I'm pondering a fourth lump back to me which will leave me Hey bit disfigured since I'm not very big and it will leave me facing radiation. But I was told by my surgeon and oncologist that I have plenty of time to make that decision. I have not had the testing but my oncologist says it's not likely that I have the genetic mutation Because my mother is 83 and has never had any breast health issues and neither have my three sisters. That's not to say that we shouldn't get tested. I hope you take the time to weigh

Hi hope your are ok and able to decide on your surgery. It took 5 attempts before they got clear margins with my dcis. l was frustrated, fed up and feeling worn down by it all. But it was worth it for me anyway.
l l have just finished 5 weeks radiotherapy, Not sure why but was very anxious about starting this but all went well. l had not side effects apart from my breast turning a bit pinkish towards the end and being a bit tired.
Hope all goes well for you and everyone else reading this x
