Dianems - There are other options out there if you don't want to wait for Vinnie.  I had mine done at Penn in my PS office by a wonderful woman who is a micropigmentation specialist, Mandy Sauler.  She is a tattoo artist (like her mother before her) and she has a degree in Art.  She was also trained in cosmetic tattooing.  She has many happy clients in NYC as well as in the Philly area.  I had both done for just over $300 total.  I think insurance would have paid, but I dropped the ball and forgot to submit certain papers.  I didn't bother trying to collect.  She did an excellent job and they still look great a year later.  My scars are completely covered by the tattoos and actually look like part of the areola.  My husband was initially against having this done, but now loves the look!

BayouBabe, I noticed that you had fat grafting done. Just wondering if you would recommend it? How painful was it? Also , were your tattoos painful or fade? Do you have nipple reconstruction? Has that flattened out? I had my exchange on 3/6 and fat grafting and then tattoos are my next and hopefully final steps:)

Kingster - I had nipple recon from a skin graft from my hip, and fat grafting twice. First, I have to note that my PS is a perfectionist (love him!). My nip is a perfect match to my nip that was spared. PS made it large to begin with (huge actually) and it is now the perfect size and shape. I had the fat grafting to repair rad damage and to help with the step off at the top of implants. Donor sites (hips, inner thighs, and buttocks) were painful and bruised, but sooo worth it. My rads side has improved immensely, my pear body shape is trimmer, implants are warmer. Nipple tattoo has not faded - awesome match. Some sensation during tat, but for the most part painless. I am a huge advocate for fat grafting!

My PS said to wait two months to get tattoos. I had the "origami" procedure though where he twirled the skin into a nipple during my exchange surgery. I'm pleased with how they look. My PS did my tattoos two months and a week after surgery.

Thanks BayouBabe, AZ and Janet. I did look at Vinnies website and talked with Ritchie in the Maryland office. Wait time for Vinnie is 8 months or I can get appt with Paul or Trent in 6 - 8 weeks. I know they were trained by Vinnie and it is good to hear a positive recommendation from someone that has used them. Ritchie says they want us to wait 5 months after surgery. My PS said he could do a tattoo but recommended Vinnie's team for the best result. Pain is somewhat subjective and will depend on how the nerves have regenerated since surgery. They will give me the Telfa pads and Neosporin to use for about 5 days. I will look at my calendar, check airfares and decide on a month to try for appointment.

I haven't yet made up my mind re nipples reconstruction. I'm not at that stage yet anyway. But to give me an idea, I googled temporary nipple tattoos, and purchased several sets of varying colours/sizes at $1.50 a pair!

They are just applied with a wet cloth, and supposed to last a few days, but the first ones I tried looked good for more than 2 weeks! And that was despite showering on a daily basis!

I really liked the look of them, and found them very pleasing. I'm not sure I want the bumps, and may end up getting just the 3-D tattoos .....

Morwenna, Great idea! I just ordered some. This will be a good way to decide color and diameter as well as placement.

Good to know! How long after reconstruction were you able to have Vinne tattoo them? I've read nothing but good things about Vinne and if I fly all that way I really only want to see him and not one of his partners.

Vinnie prefers five months after your last surgery. (See the answer to question 2A in the link...)

I have heard that Vinnie is the best, but costs $800. I read from this site that Mandy Sauler from Philadelphia is good too, and costs $300. A big difference. With all the work and pain of reconstruction, don't want a bad tattoo that's for sure, lol.

Just ordered my tats today from Dune. Got 5 pairs of different colors sizes and shapes. Is 8 weeks too early to use them?

Has anyone purchased silicone nipple prosthetics from Pink Perfect.? I just had my exchange and am happy with the results. I am thinking I will leave well enough alone for now anyway.

I just put the temporary tattoos on, they are cool! Makes such a difference in how you look. so inexpensive and a good idea if that is what you want to do. Different sizes, styles, and colors so you get an idea of where to put them. give them a try?!

    Good to hear! :-)

I'm glad you liked the temporary tats as well. I was amazed at the difference :)

I'm to have a revision/reduction on my right TRAM flap, but not until January! I'll make a decision about nipples after that, I guess....

your information about the temporary nipple tatoo is awesome. I'm due for rads next and then reconstruction. I'm going to go ahead and order some of these to experiment prior to implant surgery. Thanks so much!

Thanks to all for your postings, it's been very helpful.  I will be looking to do this probably next year.  (Still in chemo - final implants after that.)  Does anyone have any recommendations for tattoo artists in Kansas, Missouri, or New York City (Manhattan)?

    Wishing you all the best!

robinblessed54 - I'm a bit south of you in Riverside county and would love to see your picture if you don't mind sharing! I have an exchange surgery sometime in September and I'm researching all my options for nipple construction. It would be great to see the work of someone closer to me than Vinnie is. Thanks!

NIPPLES - who has done what and how do they feel about it and how do their significant others feel??? Question - with fake breasts, aereola and nipples, do they only use their hands or do they use their mouths also. Do I need to add that to the equation? I see the PS tomorrow, second exchange the 27th, (long story one TE deflated and muscle clamped back, so couldn't put implant in on that side) so I'm curious about what my conversation should be. Sorry if the question was TMI. Cross posted on Exchange City

Kntwins, I just had nipple tattoos. They look amazing! My DH of 40 years loves them too. He never was a mouth nipple guy but uses his hands. It was never an erotic zone for me. I will PM u a pic right after ghey finished.

Ok ladies who have had nipple tattoos and are healed completely! Did they feel rough after bandages came off? If so, does it go away? How long till completely healed? Thanks
