Complex Cyst Biopsy - Done

The radiologist who did the FNB on the complex cyst came in to talk to me before she did it. That was nice, considering I was laying there, exposed to the world. She told me the area was very small, and I had two choices. Come back in 8 weeks, when it was bigger or go ahead and do the FNB today. She was honest and said "I'm afraid if I miss it, it will send cancer cells out from the original area." That's all I had to hear. I told her I had researched her, she is supposed to be very good at what she does, and I was trusting her to do it right.

She had a hard time getting past the wall of the complex cyst, and was able to draw out only a very small amount of very thick fluid, that had blood in it. Unfortunately, the results will not be in until next week. I see a long weekend ahead...

great it's done. Did she put it one the slides to check she had cellular content for them to work with. My radiologist did that right next to me and after looking in the microscope. told me he was confident pathology had something to work with, it was a fine needle biopsy also.

She held up the syringe thingie, and showed me the cellular content. The fluid was so thick, and what she called gunky that is was sticking to the sides of the syringe. Nasty stuff!!

Did she say what she thought the sticky stuff was? Oily and yellow?

    Hello,

Just popping in to support you through this. Try and relax although it's never easy, and let us know. I've had enough breast issues to know that's not easy!

    Thinking of you,

Good morning, ladies. Thank you so much for your support through all this. Artsee, the sticky stuff was not oily and yellow. I had read a little bit about complex cysts, so was prepared for her to look at it and toss it. She didn't, though. She told me there is a very slight chance it is benign, but she believes it is malignant. She also had to use 3 different needles, to get past the wall of the darn thing. To say I am a hot mess right now would be a major understatement.

they went in twice when I had a fine needle biopsy, really wiggling that needle around like up and down pushing it. I just saw yellow tinged blood on the slides.. No idea. Do you have a Breast surgeon you feel good about? Praying for good news for you. Regardless of the outcome of pathology I've learned from reading this forum, that ALL ladies feel a sense of relief when results come in and they can move forward with a clear view ahead

waiting is the hardest. When my complex cyst was done years ago, they tried several needles as well and had a hard time too. Mine was B9. I'm surprised they said anything as they should wait for path report. I'd mention that to your doctor...unless this was your doctor that did it. Thinking of you.

I trust my BS, and he is the one who sent me to this particular facility and radiologist. I thought I was doing ok, but maybe I'm just falling apart. :(

Still waiting for results. My nerves are getting more frayed. I honestly think this is the worst part. :(

Ok. My primary just called. The radiologist did not get a big enough sample for them to run any tests when they did the FNB. They are recommending I wait 6 months, then go back for an ultrasound, more tests, etc. As I told her, my concern is that the dent/dimple is still there, and it has been 2 months now. I am still waiting for the surgeons nurse to call me back, though. Not sure if he will agree with the 6 month wait, or want to do something else. I am not entirely comfortable with waiting...
