Another new diagnosis
hi Ladies,
I have been lurking here for the past two weeks, just praying I would get negative results and not have to join you (sorry!). But unfortunately, I got the call yesterday, it's invasive breast cancer.
I am a 32 yr old mother of 3, ages 4, 2, and 15 mo. I just stopped breastfeeding in January, and I am still in total shock that this is going on. I am homeschooling my kids, and was just preparing my daughter's fall curriculum. We live in the middle of nowhere (army), and I need to travel 2 hours to go to a specialist.
Right now, I am struggling with the lack of information. All I know is that it is cancer, I don't know how bad. I do know that in my mammogram and ultrasound, I had many diffuse calcifications and two bigger ones (the biggest just under 1 cm). My doctor did not think it looked like cancer, but she was wrong. She said the pathology report showed invasive cancer and DCIS. Now we are just questioning. Is all of it cancer? Has it spread? With every ache in my body I think "Has it spread to my bones?"
I'm sorry you are all going through this, but I am grateful for your support and guidance.

I'm so sorry you have joined this club. But these boards are a great resource. Try to find people local to you for referrals. In the beginning things tend to move slow and it's frustrating. One thing I am learning is things will move in their own time. Every time I try to rush it, something gets in the way. Stay calm and be informed. Ask lots of questions until you are comfortable. Hugs!

Oh, Mamabear1,
We too are sorry that you have had to join our community. You are not alone, and our community will help guide you along the process. We have a forum for young women as well, and there are many women/families in the army on our boards as well.
Once you know you your full pathology report, please check here to help you better understand:
Hang in there, and one step at a time !!
Many hugs,
The Mods

I am so sorry you are joining our club. But you have come to the right place. I know you must be terrified right now. Do you have any details of your pathology? There will be a lot of information on here for you and support for you when you need it. We are here to help you. Hugs.

No details at all yet, which is so frustrating! They are hoping to have all the information on Monday.

Mamabear,
I am sorry that you are joining us. It's hard to remain calm and patient at this point. On Monday, you will have a better idea of your situation. Just hang in there until then!

So sorry you have to be here. My daughter was 18m when I was diagnosed. I hope your kids are young enough that they will remember very little of this. When you go in on Monday ask them if they have an online portal where they post test results. Also since you live so far from cancer center emphasize to them that with 3 kids taking the 2 hour trip is a real pain and that you'd prefer several appointments on the same day or phone consultations whenever possible. I was 1 hour from the cancer center and I wish I had been more persistent about not having to drive there for every little thing, eventually I was able to do the Neulasta shots at home. I bet you will feel way better on Monday when you find out more.
