Biopsy: CHECK!
Just had my biopsy and it was not too bad although I am sore now. Initially all I knew was that I had a 2cm mass. However now I know that it is actually 1.2, that it is a BI-RADS 4C. So not great right? I am glad I have a lot to keep me busy during the waiting period for my results. Is there anything I should "do" meanwhile. Should I realistically be bracing for the worse? The doctor that performed my biopsy said it could be a ductal carcinoma which on the "bright side" usually does not spread. That would make sense as I have no breast cancer history in my family however I have a scar on my breast (right) where a a milk duct became engorged and infected, it was a horrible experience and left me with a keloid scar that eventually became almost invisible. Also my last baby I was only able to feed from my left breast as the right did not produce much milk. I don't know what to think or feel, I know that there is never a "right time" for these things but this is a horrible time. With the needs of my autistic boys, the need of my income to my home and the need of my other 3 kids I am overwhelmed and just pray "it's nothing". Blah.

Hi faith_hope 77. My BIRADS was a 4 but not categorized any further. It was always nice to hear that most biopsies come back B9, but I did prepare for the worst by reading about treatments and plans just in case mine was not. I feel like it helped me when I heard the words cancer/dcis/microinvasion. Emotionally I did not begin to feel better until I had my reexcision surgery and received clear margins. I have 4 kids and did as little work around the house as possible and spent as much time as I could with them. I would stay up very late some nights reading these message boards and learning all I could. I got a prescription for Ativan and that helped so much during that very scary time. Hang in there and know that everyone is here for you.

At this time all you can do is try to busy yourself and keep your mind occupied on other things. I know, easier said than done. I'm waiting on results too, so you are not alone. It's easy to fall into the "what if" mindset and get stuck there. I pray that your results come back b9.

hey Faith thinking of you, I would say don't Google but there's a wealth of information on here and it's encouraging and uplifting. Stories from the horses mouth so to speak. One thing I googled that was cool was celebrities with Breast cancer, all kinds of people I didn't even know had had it. Don't Google anything else. I read a blog called chemo couture and that girl is cool. This wait is super hard eat food that you like and that is kind to your stomach. Order pizza for the kids. Take a nice bath with some nice bubble bath..easier said than done with special needs kids I know. Hang in there, I'm here for you. Also one random question for you do any of your kids the autistic ones in particular ever get real constipated ? My five year old is so backed up right now and can't go.. Any tips please let me know, I've been trying to push fluids, done half cap miralax..still nothing

Thank you ladies! The results are in but now I am waiting on my PTP to look at them before I can get them
I am going to drive down to the office before they close if I have too. I did just keep busy, REALLY busy. I am calm just want to know so that we can get ready for the next step.
FB123~ My youngest does get constipated often because he is such a picky eater and his food preferences are so limited. When he does het that way, warm orange juice does the trick. I hope it helps your guy. How did your meeting go? We had Alex's IEP for prek this morning and he qualified for services so I am over the moon happy!
-
warm orange juice thank you.. That's a good one
for me a Spanish coffee does the trick but can't give that to my son
how are you??? Results? Hope you're not left waiting this weekend.. The meeting for the private special ed school was rescheduled for tomorrow.. I am suing the board of ed here in NY, sounds crazy but a lot of special needs parents do because autistic children just cannot be accomodated by the current system, there's just the small problem of paying the lawyer soon.. Hope all is well with you

Faith_Hope - you and I have similar "lumps". I know I was categorized BR 4, but I don't know what class. I'm in the waiting zone, too. Hoping we both get good news soon!
FB123 - I started reading chemocouture, and couldn't believe that was Krysta Rodriguez!!! Love her!! She was one of the stars of the canceled show "Smash", and she starred on Broadway in "First Date" with Zachary Levi. She has the most gorgeous voice! I'm now reading through all of her posts.
-
Yes Krysta is awesome isn't she, moving forward with her treatment and still working (playing a Cancer patient!), and she is doing chemotherapy right now! It's obviously very difficult but she brings a lot of energy, and a force that makes you feel like anything is possible. I do appreciate people with Breast cancer not ' hogging their stories ' and posting them here or wherever for others to get encouragement and information, it helps so many people.

Good Morning Ladies! I just wanted to update you all that I got my results and it is benign! Yay! I am so grateful to God for this
! I still need to undergo a lumpectomy so that will happen and although I am not too happy about that I am feeling so blessed that they can take all the lumps they can take all the lumps they want.
-
Yay, faith_hope!!!!! That's good news indeed! I'm with you - still waiting on the call to schedule my lumpectomy. But let's celebrate the first results!!! Congrats!
-
Faith that's awesome! I just asked the same question to bellajenn on a different thread... Why the excisions/ lumpectomy when it's benign, were you offered a rationale for this?
