Hi everyone, Just waiting and waiting for testing and need some support. My story-I am 39 years old, married mother of 4 year old. I am scheduled for a breast reduction in June and my plastic surgeon ordered a screening mammo. My first mammo 3/26, got called back for additional views. The doctor immediately sent me to ultrasound-said they found small mass (@1cm). Then had breast MRI a week later. Results came back with Birads category 5 with 2 masses, the larger measuring 4cmx2cmx2cm. It has central target with arms coming off it. Now awaiting biopsy this Friday. The area around mass is quite tender and I have a tender lymph node on my chest on same side(right). I know it is cancer and sick of waiting. My breast health doctor will not get me results until follow up appt on May 6th....I just want this poison out of me. Thanks for listening!

    Hi Maxdog,

Sorry you are going through this. I just got my report yesterday. It came back with Birads 5. They recommended an excisional biopsy. I am terrified. I'm glad I found this forum. I am falling apart. I hope they catch this early. My mammogram from last year was fine and I had an ultrasound on the same breast a year an a half ago and it showed nothing. I'm trying to schedule an excisional biopsy soon.

    Thank you

    Hi maxdog,

I am also sorry you have to go through this, but your waits seem long to me. Maybe I was just lucky, but I found out my biopsy results in two days! Is there any way you can find out sooner so you're not in limbo? Maybe via a phone call? In the meantime, keep busy so you're not thinking about it all the time.

I will ask to have my results sent to my PCP, I know she will call me. If I had my biospy at my local community hospital, I know things would be quicker, but I am going to Women and Infants in Providence as they are experts in all this.

Maxdog, you can request your results as soon as they have them. They are YOUR results and if you are willing to get them via phone or another means, you can request they give them to you right away and not have to wait to get them in person. Many doctors like to only give results in person, but they are YOURS and you can get them earlier if you want them. Just make sure you ask nicely and tell them you do not wish to wait. Hugs and best to you!

I'm BI-RADS 5. Had a core biopsy on Monday, now awaiting the pathology report this Friday. I've accepted that it's malignant...I only hope that the type isn't crazy/aggressive. Posting here has definitely helped me cope.

yes, I have accepted that mine will come back positive. I'm sure.i will still be in disbelief when.the doctor tells me. I was already prepared for a reductions, so really hoping I.can have a mastectomy and call it a day.Scared that it has spread, but trying to remember this is all out of my control until I have more info. Thank you all so much...we can get through this.

ladies this is a horrible mess . I know because Im going through it too. Birads 4 and excisional biopsy last month. You really cannot be sure of the outcome until you get biopsy report. Please don't jump the gun and convince yourselves of malignancy . It really may not be. You cannot yet know. Hugs and prayers to both of you

    Hi

On top of the anxiety and lack of sleep I have to deal with my doctor. My ultrasound report says Birads 5 which pretty much tells me there's a malignancy. The radiologist is recommending excisional biopsy but the center my doctor is sending me to does not perform excisional biopsies only needle biopsies. I called the center and the lady I spoke with was trying to convince me that I'm better off with a needle biopsy first. I'm confused. There must be a reason why my ultrasound says excisional biopsy.

    Thanks for listening

Had my biopsy today-the staff was amazing. The doctor biopsied 2spots. One is an are of cysts with some suspicious areas within it. The other was the larger, more concerning area. I asked the doctor what she thought the chances were of it being benign. She stated that she was fully aware it will come back malignant. I was prepared for that and happy she was honest with me. Now the wait for type, stage and treatment plan. She also said that based on size it is at least stage 2. I will sleep well tonight, now that the wheels are in motion. Thanks for listening!

maxdog you sound like you have some damn good doctors in your life, I like the way the radiologist was so straight forward with you and it makes sense to me that you feel better even though it's not great news. The key as you said is to move forward and rest in the knowledge a gang of very skilled people are getting ready to obliterate this. I'm also very impressed with your plastic surgeon, I've had an breast uplift but was not offered a screening beforehand, your guy sounds very diligent. Kick back this weekend, you have definitely earned it with the stress you've been dealing with, the same to chocomousse, Ddw79 and Katie, I hope you ladies manage to zone out this weekend, turn the worry switch off and enjoy yourselves. I'm hoping for good news for all of you.
