2 Red Marks a Month Apart

Hi There,

I noticed two red marks on my breasts a month apart. They look like hickies/red bruises almost but start to fade in a few days. They do coincide with my ovulation, I am on a thyroid medication T3 as well. I have a gynecologist appointment set up to investigate the issues. Naturally I've gotten myself scared after looking into the red marks that correspond with IBC.

My question is, what tests should I ask for from my Dr. to be safe. They said they will do an ultrasound and mammogram.

Thanks!

Brynn

Hi, and sorry to hear what you are going through.

Typically, as stated on this page, to diagnose inflammatory breast cancer, your doctor will perform a biopsy. The doctor may start with the other tests however.

    Diagnosis of IBC

    Please keep us posted.

See your Dr! There are MANY possibilities for 'red marks' that come and go that have nothing to do with IBC (or any other type of BC). IBC is rare - only between 1%-5% of ALL DXd types of BC. It is aggressive, often presenting literally overnight and progresses rapidly - day/weeks.

'Red' does not automatically mean IBC is present just as no 'red' does not mean that IBC is not present - I never had an 'redness'.

    hello again

I got a call today that I had an abnormal pap smear. This was from the appointment that I went in for my breast exam. The doctor did a routine pap and was a bit unsure of my red mark so sen me to a dermatologist for a punch biopsy. Easy procedure didn't hurt.

Of course I'm stressed that now I have an issue with my pap. The nurse explained they were unrelated and suspects HPV. I feel nervous of course.

I'm going in again to get my cervix examined and potentially biopsied.

Also I'm awaiting my breast biopsy.

Boy two issues in 2 weeks has me stressed.

Hoping for support guidance and opinions.

hi I have the same symptoms, and very worried what happened in the end with your results?

bkandre posted two times and never posted again. I'd venture to guess that she was not diagnosed with breast cancer.
