Has anyone been to one of the Cancer Center of America? I have been excepted to the Chicago hospital. Are they as good as they say? This is my third diagnosis with breast cancer and I am thinking of going there. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

I am so sorry you have to go through this all over again.

I live in Chicago and I haven't heard anything about them. I have heard Rush is good. I am getting treatment through Northshore but I sought a second opinion at Northwestern. I live in the burbs so I decide to opt for Northshore for convenience. I am getting surgery out of state.

Just curious where you heard they were good?

staycp, I was recently diagnosed and called Cancer Treatment Centers of America right away based on knowing someone with colon cancer that was treated there...er Here. We flew in on Sunday (to Chicago) and I am on my 2nd day of appointments. I feel very comfortable and confident being here....so far. They speak with confidence that they are one of the very best places to seek treatment. Not having had treatment (other than a meeting with a local surgeon) anywhere else, I can't judge that yet. But I will say, I feel like I am in the Right place. Heather

    hi ladies,

If you use the search function, you can find previous threads/posts on CTCA. Very few BCO members have been treated there.

Thanks for replying ladies. I am flying in next week. I figure even though my other two diagnosis are low stages, 1 and stage 2, I should go somewhere for a second opinion.

My friend just finished treatment for uterine cancer. She was so pleased with her team of Doctor's. She lives in Michigan, but went to the CTCA in Zion

I know they have a terrific marketing campaign and spend a lot of money on advertising. I've heard they are a mixed bag when it comes to actual treatment.

That's what I was thinking. They do a lot of advertising but I hadn't heard anything about the quality of their care.
