I am having 2 done on each breast plus sentinel node dissection and wondering what each day will be like after surgery.

I had a lumpectomy, sentinel node biopsy (which ended up being 3 nodes removed) and removal of my port on last Friday. First, I went to the breast center for US guided needle localization of my previously biopsied tumor and involved lymph node. The radiologist numbed me up well with lidocaine injection and then place a thin wire into the tumor and injected a blue dye. This was a little weird because I had floppy wires sticking out of me (they taped them down afterward). Then I had a mammogram. Next, I went to nuclear medicine to get the radioactive tracer injected into my breast. This stung but wasn't too bad for me (it felt kind of like the neulasta injections during chemo except in my breast). Then I went to pre-op area to get labs drawn and IV placed. Next then I know I woke up from surgery and a nurse was helping me get dressed. They had already done teaching with my husband and I don't think they told me anything important (if they did I didn't hear it!). I was very drowsy for several hours afterward. I do have a J-P drain in place. Friday evening I had some difficulty sleeping. My armpit ached where the nodes were removed and it was difficult to find a comfy spot for my arm. The recliner ended up being the most comfortable place. Saturday I remained sore but was able to control all pain with ice pack and tylenol. I couldn't move my arm very well because it just felt like everything was pulling. I think we emptied the drain 3x. Sunday I was able to move my arm a little bit more and there was less pain. I was able to shower but needed help to dry off. Monday (Today) I felt very little pain. Mostly discomfort from the drain tubing. Sleeping is still a little bit difficult. Overall it hasn't been too bad. I hope this is helpful info!
